In Pokémon GO, trainers can currently challenge the Ultra Beast Anego. One player has managed to complete this raid all on their own. How he did it and how you can do it too, we have summarized for you here on MeinMMO.

Which Pokémon is it about? The Ultra Beast Anego has returned to Level 5 raids in Pokémon GO and can be battled there. When facing the monster with the types Rock and Poison, players typically need the support of one or more trainers in addition to the best counters.

But that doesn’t have to be the case, as a player’s video proves. He has managed to defeat the Ultra Beast on his own. How he accomplished this is shown below.

Player beats Anego raid alone and shows how

Time and again, trainers in Pokémon GO take on special challenges. This includes players attempting to complete legendary raids alone. This was also the case for YouTuber MiniryuNinja, who shows in his video how he completely defeated Anego alone with just one Pokémon.

How did he do it? In the video, you can see that he used a Proto-Groudon with the charged attack Abyss Blade in battle against Anego. This gives it a Ground moveset and is therefore particularly effective against Anego.

As Reddit user TheDynamicDuoUK explains in his post on Reddit, the monster was leveled up to level 50. Moreover, the weather conditions were optimal with sunny weather, as it boosts Ground attacks. He writes (via reddit.com): Anyone with a Proto-Groudon at level 50 can SOLO Anego in sunny weather – dodging is not required!

How to get Proto-Groudon? While other Pokémon have Mega Evolutions, you can perform a so-called Proto Evolution with Groudon. It is temporary and somewhat stronger than the actual monster, which is why Proto-Groudon is one of the best attackers of its type.

However, to trigger it for the first time, you need the corresponding Proto Energy. This was available during the special research and following the Proto Raids during this year’s Hoenn Tour. When it will next be available in the game is currently still unknown.

Trainers want to try the challenge themselves

Trainers celebrate it: In the comments, players celebrate the trainer’s achievement and some even want to try it themselves. However, there are also trainers who have concerns. The moveset of Anego and the player’s device can also affect the success of the raid and ultimately make the crucial seconds. You can read the following comments (via reddit.com):

• Thunder571: Great challenge. My Groudon is not strong enough, but part of me still wants to try.

• reidhi: Thank you for this post. I will try it.

• mornaq: Honestly, I wouldn’t say ‘everyone’ would fail on slower devices, with a stronger moveset as well. But it’s certainly doable.

However, for many, the large amount of required XL candies is a hurdle, as further revealed in the comments.

Other ways to defeat Anego alone: But there are other ways to defeat Anego alone. Players report in the comments that their Groudon was at a lower level or they also used Shadow Mamoswine.

Such is the case for FrealafGB, who wrote the following on Reddit: You don’t necessarily need a level 50. A level 49.5 would be absolutely fine to use MiniryuNinja’s strategy. A friend also managed with a level 45 [Proto]-Groudon, plus a level 50 Shadow Mamoswine. There are a whole bunch of strategies to get the win.

This can be especially worthwhile if you don’t have enough XL candies from Groudon to perform the relevant power-ups. Here it can therefore be useful to resort to an additional alternative such as Shadow Mamoswine, which is also among the best attackers in Pokémon GO.

In Pokémon GO the Day and Night event is currently running, where you are supposed to catch certain night spawns. However, many trainers simply can’t find them. We at MeinMMO will show you what happened.

Which spawns are we talking about? On Friday, the Day and Night event in Pokémon GO started, taking place in celebration of the summer solstice. During this event, trainers can encounter certain suitable spawns in the wild that are either active during the day or are supposed to appear after sunset, i.e., at night.

However, many players are currently having issues with these night spawns because they simply can’t find them. We will show you what the trainers are reporting and what consequences the missing spawns have for the players.

Night spawns are difficult to find

What problems do trainers have with the spawns? During the Day and Night event, the day and night spawns are supposed to alternate, typically with sunrise and sunset. However, this does not seem to be going as smoothly as it has in other events in the past.

Many players have been wondering since the first evening about where the night spawns are. After sunset and the appearance of the moon symbol in the game, they do not seem to appear in many places or can only be found in isolated instances.

Are night spawns even coming? Although many trainers report that they cannot find the night spawns, they do exist. However, they only spawn very late, literally at night.

Some explain that they were able to find the corresponding monsters about two hours after sunset. Others only had luck in the early morning hours. German trainers report having encountered the first specimens shortly before midnight.

Why are the times so different? The differing reports about spawn times could also be related to the region where the respective trainers live. Because depending on the location, the sun sets and rises at different times.

Trainers have to stay awake for a long time in many places to secure the monsters. Additionally, players in certain areas have very short nights, or the sun doesn’t set at all. Therefore, this change has led to strong criticism from those affected (via reddit.com):

• JacobGgamer: Since the Day and Night event, I’ve been awake until 1-2 AM waiting to see EVERY night spawn to complete my collection challenge. BUT NOTHING! In the last few days, I haven’t seen a SINGLE spawn, only day spawns; has anyone else had this experience?

• notoriousdmc: This is a joke. Do people expect us to stay awake all night? What is the reward for the collection reward? A lunar stone?

• tomtttttttttttt: They start about two hours after sunset and end about two hours after sunrise. I was able to see them at 4 AM because I woke up early. I have no idea why Niantic programmed it this way, instead of adjusting the times of sunset and sunrise and having an overlap period of evening and morning twilight where both can spawn.

• raggedy10: It’s strange how this works, because I was awake past midnight and still saw Sonnfel on the map, not Lunastein, and that was at least 2 hours after sunset.

• Target880: This stupid system gives me one hour of night, which is the time between sunset and sunrise. If I were to travel to relatives who live a bit further north, the next sunset would be on July 11, so no night at all…

Why are the rare night spawns such a problem?

Collector Challenge: During the Day and Night event, there are two collector challenges named Like Day and Night, which are time-limited. These must be completed during the event to secure the rewards. However, both day spawns and night spawns must be caught for this.

While many players have no issues completing the quest with the day spawns, they do struggle with the night spawns due to the missing monsters. If the spawns remain so rare and force trainers to stay awake for long periods, it may become impossible for all players to complete the quest.

Catching Bonus with Tarnpignon: In addition, trainers have the chance to receive double stardust when catching monsters due to the event which is particularly worthwhile for Tarnpignon, which is currently supposed to spawn at night.

This monster belongs to the 22 Pokémon that provide a higher stardust bonus. However, as it is currently so rarely found, trainers cannot make optimal use of this bonus, which frustrates many.

You still have a few days to complete the collector challenge and take advantage of the stardust bonus, as the event runs until June 25 at 8 PM local time.

Whether Niantic will make improvements in the coming days or if you will have to continue to stay up all night to obtain night spawns remains to be seen. If there is any new information, you will find it with us at MeinMMO.

In Pokémon GO two new promo codes are available. They at least earn you a few balls.

What kind of code is this? In the Pokémon GO community (via reddit) two new promo codes are circulating. You can redeem them either in the game if you play on Android or on a special website (for iOS players). They are:

• NGQMVXCUCXVC4
• 2TNQ2FP3TYQ8W
• You can redeem the codes directly on the Niantic website

However, players have already noted: you can apparently only redeem one of the two codes at a time; both are not possible.

What does the code provide? Both codes get you 6 Poké Balls each and seem to still be active. You should use them quickly if you want the balls because in the past codes have also been deactivated after a short time.

What do trainers say about the code? Currently, the codes are received rather mixed in the community. Even though one always appreciates free items, some trainers mock the contents of the codes:

• “Redeem this code and claim a visit in the inventory to send 6 balls,” writes one (via reddit).
• “I can spin stops faster or open gifts,” says another (via reddit).
• “How generous,” comments a user (via reddit).

However, one trainer also notes that at least Autocatcher users can make use of every ball.

Redeem promo code for Pokémon GO on iOS and Android – Here’s how it works

Android: On Android devices, you can simply redeem promo codes in the shop. Scroll down until you find the “Promos” field.

There you enter the code and receive your items.

iOS: On devices running iOS, you must take a small detour, as there is no corresponding field in the shop. You need to visit the Niantic website where codes can be entered. You can find the link here: Redeem promo code (via rewards.nianticlabs.com).

Here you need to enter your Pokémon GO login details, however, this is not possible, for example, with a pure Trainer Club account. You need a linked account, either with Facebook, Google, or similar.

Once you have entered the code, the items will be credited to you in the game. If it worked, you can check your bag or the journal where a corresponding entry should be found.
