In 1997, the German MMORPG Tibia was released and still has a loyal fanbase today. Crazy things keep happening in the game, but now a player has achieved a feat that was long considered impossible.
What kind of achievement is it? The player Rafaelkiller has managed to become the first “Elite Knight” in Tibia to reach a Magic Level of 15. This may sound unremarkable on paper, especially if one doesn’t know Tibia, but it was long deemed impossible in the game.
Because how one increases their Magic Level in Tibia depends on two important factors. One is the Magic Level itself, which requires more and more experience to be increased. The other is the class you play. This distribution is meant to ensure that knights cannot simply become mages.
How do you increase the Magic Level? It improves when you use mana. It sounds easy, but the aforementioned class scaling comes into play. While a mage needs only 1.1x more mana per level, a paladin needs 1.4x more. The knight, however, needs three times as much mana per level.
In numbers, this means that a mage reaches Magic Level 15 with 50,835 mana, while a knight requires an impossible 11,479,124,800 mana. Additionally, the knight’s skills consume very little mana (between 200 and 340) and have long cooldowns. So it’s a true mammoth task.

Why was the achievement considered impossible? A lot has changed in Tibia over the years and decades. It is now possible to buy various items that speed up leveling skills as well as mana regeneration. This makes the achievement nowadays extremely time-consuming and expensive, but no longer impossible, as the player has recently proven.
On reddit, the topic is of course also discussed. One player writes: “I remember when people thought it was impossible” and receives lots of upvotes.
Another fan explains the situation and why people believed that: “It was never impossible; it would have just taken several lifetimes. Back then, you would have had to consume mana continuously for about 1092 years and drink mana potions non-stop.
There was neither weapon training nor offline training, nor items that accelerated mana regeneration.”
Another fan shows their amazement and expresses that the achievement is still not an easy feat today, even with all these power-ups available: “With Magic Level 13, I have the highest level knight on my server. To understand how crazy this achievement is – it would cost me at least 20,000 dollars to achieve the 1.5 levels I need to reach 15.”
