The Quinfall is a new indie MMORPG that sounds really good in its presentation. Basically, it wants to fulfill the dreams of all types of players – whether PvE, role-playing, or PvP. The first gameplay trailer also looked really good. New information about the different types of weapons has now been shared.
What kind of game is this? The Quinfall is a Buy2Play MMORPG and promises a perfect mix of theme park and sandbox:
Players will be able to own their own taverns or shops, which promotes the role-playing aspect.
In the open game world, quests, lots of content to explore, and boss fights for up to 50 players await you.
PvE fans can look forward to dungeons and raids.
For PvP fans, there will be huge battles for fortresses on every server.
Players will be able to breed mounts and decorate a house with over 1,000 different decorations.
There are supposed to be separate PvE and PvP servers, allowing people to experience or consciously avoid PvP in the open world. The cool thing is that you can switch between these servers at any time. However, on a PvP server, there are smaller bonuses, including more XP and faster crafting experience.
What has been revealed about the weapons? The Quinfall forgoes fixed classes, just like New World, Albion Online, or the upcoming Throne and Liberty. Instead, there will be 9 weapons that define their play style. Each weapon has two different “sub-classes” from which you can choose.

As a marksman, you have the choice of the hunter with animal companions or the critical archer.
With sword and shield, you can take on the role of the tank as a guardian or the role of the damage dealer as a sword master.
With the great sword, you can either execute slow but strong single attacks or use huge AoE effects as a devastator.
The life staff allows you to play as a healer or a supporter.
With the crossbow, you can act secretly as a sniper or take down enemies in rapid fire.
The regular staff offers the sub-classes frost mage for controlling enemies and fire mage for dealing lots of damage.
The lancer (spear bearer) has only one subclass, the valkyrie, as its only weapon. It is supposed to provide both offensive and supportive abilities.
Currently, information about the dagger and the battle axe is still missing, which we will include as soon as it has been released.
Is there a weapon switch? There is currently no concrete statement about a weapon switch. However, the posts on Twitter/X indicate that the respective weapon is suitable for an offensive, healer, or mixed build. This at least suggests that you are not necessarily bound to one weapon.
What else do we know about the game? From the FAQ, we know that The Quinfall is supposed to receive a German localization. Other languages are English, French, and Turkish, which makes sense since the studio is located in Istanbul.
The game’s servers are expected to accommodate around 12,000 people, and it is noted that you are not fixed to one server. Additionally, there should be no Pay2Win in the game.
When will The Quinfall be released? The start of the closed beta is currently planned for late 2023. This is to take place directly on Steam. There is no specific release date yet.

King Kong Game Faces Mockery
Why is it facing mockery? Although Skull Island: Rise of Kong is a new game that debuts in 2023, it looks visually similar to the game “Peter Jackson’s King Kong” released in 2005.
Many players mock the game on X, formerly Twitter, about its graphics, joking that Spider-Man 2 and Starfield have competition:

This is how the tier list is structured: In this article, we want to reveal which are currently the strongest classes in Lost Ark. MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch has dealt intensively with the topic and has also watched numerous videos and tier lists from experts. Additionally, MeinMMO’s Lost Ark expert Mark Sellner has also contributed to the tier list, having already spent 3,000 hours in Lost Ark.
What resulted were a tier list for PvE and one for PvP, as both play styles differ significantly. The classes were assigned to various tiers:
In the S-Tier are the strongest classes

The best classes in PvE
This tier list focuses on how useful the individual builds and engravings of the classes are in group content in PvE.
The Butcher has a strong burst damage that hardly falls off when maintaining his attacks. Currently, both builds are very strong, but the Predator variant has a slight edge as it was not affected by the recent nerfs.
The Spear Carrier was one of the big winners of the last balance update and can box both builds into the S-Tier. She is versatile and reaches very strong damage numbers in every situation.
The Sniper has also handled the balance updates very well. The Death Strike variant can, when executed perfectly, reach slightly higher numbers than Loyal Comanion.
Explanations for the classes in A-Tier:
The Arkana belongs to the magicians and focuses on a lot of DPS and mobility. However, she also has little defense and is difficult to play. In addition, there is a certain element of randomness due to the cards. This ensures that it does not make it into the S-Tier.
The Artillerist reduces incoming damage and has a shield for the group. However, if there is a support present, this shield will not necessarily be needed.
The Berserker also brings additional damage for the entire group in the form of a debuff that increases the incoming damage enemies suffer.
The Martial Monk is the male counterpart to the War Dancer, but with a slightly weaker buff and a somewhat slower play style, but he also deals more damage.
The War Dancer comes with some useful group buffs, including a higher crit chance and higher attack speed. However, she is difficult to play if you want to have high damage yourself.
The Artillery Shooter is overall a rather hard class, but if played well, can keep up with those in S-Tier. However, she quickly ends up down, and a dead teammate does not bring much to the group.
The Pistol Spearman is the class with the strongest defense in Lost Ark. She can block attacks with a shield and has a taunt. Accordingly, Pistol Spearmen are useful in groups.
The Scrapper is a strong and not too difficult class to learn. She can deal damage on par with the strongest classes.
The Spirit Fist has strong burst but only after long casting times. If the attacks then miss or enemies are already defeated, the Spirit Fist brings little to the group. Played well, however, it definitely belongs in the A-Tier.
The Death Blade also has some group buffs, which, however, are very specific to frontal or back attacks. Especially in random groups, this is too specific to be fully utilized.
As a Death Shooter, you almost go into melee with your strongest build and have to hit enemies in the back. The play style is therefore a bit more special and also has low durability.
The Air Dancer is an easy-to-learn class whose builds can deal a lot of damage with little effort. However, it cannot quite keep up with the S-Tier.
The Summoner was long in the S-Tier but has received numerous nerfs in the past, which is why she is now positioned in the A-Tier due to significantly reduced damage.
The Shadow Hunter is fast and very easy to play, but her damage is okay, but not the best.
Explanations for the classes in B-Tier:
Reaper is a very fast class that, however, can hardly take damage. You have to constantly reposition and stay in motion. If you’re not careful, the Reaper will quickly end up in the dirt.
The Destroyer offers a secure package all around. He has a lot of defense, a lot of burst damage, and CC. However, the class feels a bit slow overall, and the attacks must be very precise to fully exploit the class.
Explanations for the classes in C-Tier:
The Machinist is demanding because you essentially play two classes at once. She also has little defense, which makes her currently weak in PvE. Additionally, she lacks scaling in the later game, meaning she does not get as much stronger through higher gear score as other classes. Thus, she effectively becomes weaker the further you progress.
The Reflux Magician is currently very unpopular. She has received buffs in the past, but currently counts among the weakest damage classes in the game.
The DPS builds of the actual support classes also all end up in the C-Tier. They are usually meant more for fun and often useless. Only the Judgement Paladin can convince in very selected situations but is usually only scoffed at in groups.
As we from MeinMMO have not made deep experiences with PvP, we rely on the PvP tier list from the website Maxroll.gg. There, among others, the well-known streamer Saintone and the YouTuber T-Party write, who have already gained many years of experience in the other versions of Lost Ark.
Explanation of this list: The classes listed here are based on which classes are easy to learn and forgive the most mistakes. Therefore, the Paladin is at the top, who is also very strong in high-rank PvP.

From October 13 to 15, 2023, Polaris took place for the second time in Hamburg. MeinMMO editor Lydia Poethig was present on Saturday and Sunday and reports from the major community event.
At the Hamburg Messe, the community event Polaris celebrated its 2nd birthday from October 13 to 15, and I was there for MeinMMO. If you want to know how the first edition went, you can find our report from last year here.
Over 3 days, in addition to me, more than 27,000 other visitors attended the event – that’s almost as many people per day on average as there were in total in 2022. On-site, there was once again the opportunity to explore various booths, try out games, be entertained by numerous stage shows, and meet some well-known personalities. Among others, PietSmiet, Gronkh, Gnu, and Doctor Froid were present, and I also encountered the Berlin YouTuber Tanzverbot.
Polaris clearly distinguishes itself from gamescom. Aside from the obvious difference in size, the focus is also somewhat different. Rather than being seen as a video game event, Polaris defines itself as a community event. Gaming thus makes up only a part, albeit an important one, of the offering.
Another core theme is East Asian pop culture in general and anime/manga in particular.
While influencers do appear at gamescom, some people there take issue with them. After all, one is there for the games. At Polaris, however, Twitch streamers and YouTubers are part of the event from the very beginning and are an important aspect of the community.
Update: October 18, 2023 – In a press release on October 16, content creator Gnu, who was a guest on-site, made a statement.
For me, it was the first Polaris this year. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the varied program. It was a very pleasant size for a fair. I was able to take my time with my community and relax while chatting with other creators and colleagues. I also love the large cosplay area; I think it’s cool to admire all the elaborate costumes in the halls.

If you are like me, you want to get a rough overview first and note where you want to spend more time later and possibly spend some money. I was able to do this quickly on Saturday morning. Throughout the day, however, the fair became increasingly crowded, making it less easy to navigate.
As in the previous year, the fair extended over 2 halls that were divided into different areas, called thematic worlds.
The gaming area of Polaris was shared by larger exhibitors such as Nintendo and Capcom, along with numerous indie and retro games. Nintendo showcased current titles like Detective Pikachu and TLoZ: Tears of the Kingdom, as well as the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
The adjacent Cyberdome, however, was themed around influencers and e-sports. There were the large main stage and a “Meet & Greet” area. Creators such as the gaming group PietSmiet, the HORDE around Twitch streamer Gronkh, and YouTuber Gnu were present at Polaris.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t experience PietSmiet’s big game show on Friday night, but I was present at the Q&A with the HORDE on Saturday.

Another focus of Polaris is anime and manga. Anyone who has ever been to a fair in this area will feel right at home: Numerous booths with merchandise in the form of pillows, T-shirts, pins, and collector’s editions will make any fan’s heart race.
Additionally, there was an artist alley, a tabletop area, and a food court. Lovers of East Asian cuisine will especially be pleased at Polaris, but there are also classics like burgers, fries, and pizza. Particularly nice for those who value a meat-free diet: Almost all booths offer clearly labeled vegetarian or vegan meals.
However, Polaris doesn’t just offer countless booths to explore: On the 4 larger and several smaller stages, a varied program is offered. Visitors should ideally decide in advance what they want to see, as sometimes the choice can be difficult.
Special Highlights: Gaming History and a World Record
Although Polaris is still not a particularly large fair in terms of area, there was plenty to see and experience. Since I also didn’t want to miss some of the stage shows, the 2 days passed by very quickly and left me with a lot of impressions.

Almost 500 cosplayers came together for the world record attempt
The Playable Museum of the Retro Games Club
Here, selected parts of gaming history could be experienced on original hardware. I was particularly pleased to encounter a SNES with Super Mario World because that was the first game featuring the mustached plumber that I played as a child – and even then it was considered a retro game. It was cool in this context to also be able to try out the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder and see the development over the more than 30 years that have passed between the titles.

Cosplay Contest and World Record Attempt
These are basically two highlights in one. On Saturday, I was able to admire 10 absolutely fantastic costumes and performances during the cosplay contest. On Sunday, I attended the live recording of a new world record. With 492 people in video game cosplays in one place, the previous record, which had stood for 10 years in Finland, was surpassed by exactly one person.
For the world record attempt, organizer Wolf Lang and Daniel Schmitt from Hamburg Messe also dressed up. A record judge from the Guinness World Records, who had traveled especially for this occasion, witnessed the record and subsequently presented a certificate.
The Indie Arena
My heart beats for indie games, and I am pleased with how they shine at Polaris. In the Indie Arena, one could dive into the available titles at will. There were no long lines or time limits after which one had to yield to the next person. Instead, one could make themselves comfortable on the seats and temporarily block out the fair hustle and bustle with the provided headsets. Two titles particularly stood out to me:
Howl is a turn-based strategy game that impresses with its beautiful watercolor look. However, one should not be misled by that, as every move in Howl must be well thought out. The difficulty seems more motivating than frustrating. After I completed a level due to my excessive caution with only one out of 3 stars, I immediately dove back in to improve my rating. Howl is set to release in 2023, and you can already play the demo on Steam.
The Ebbing – A Coastal Tale is from the creators of A Bavarian Tale – Totgeschwiegen. Unlike in 19th century Upper Bavaria, this time it takes place in a port city on the North Sea. Although only a very early version was playable at the fair, it immediately captivated me. The detective RPG combines first-person detective work with role-playing elements and a touch of humor. Particularly cool for me as a language nerd: there will be fully voiced Plattdeutsch dialogue along with an English dub. The Ebbing does not yet have a release date, but also offers a demo on Steam.
The Indie Arena invited attendees to try out games
My Conclusion:
I see potential for Polaris to establish itself as a staple in the event calendar. Even now, it has been a truly wonderful event that has already grown significantly compared to last year. From what I witnessed on-site, Polaris is expected to grow even further in the future.
With Capcom and Bethesda alongside Nintendo and Ubisoft, more major exhibitors have already been gained. In the future, there might be potential for further improvement and possibly spatial expansion. Additional community actions, such as the successful world record that gathered almost 500 cosplayers and countless spectators, should continue to be part of the event’s DNA.
There were a few growing pains – for example, I had trouble installing the official companion app on my Android phone – but I personally had a great time. Polaris gave me the opportunity to chat with many cool people, play games, and admire artworks and shows. I am very curious to see what the future of this fair holds.
If you are really only interested in gaming, you are likely well served by a one-day ticket with a shorter journey. However, if you also enjoy anime and manga, cosplay, or want to experience events with German influencers from Twitch and YouTube, then Polaris is made for you.
