The world of Hytale is full of dangers despite its idyllic landscapes that can quickly cost you your life. Therefore, it’s important to equip the best weapons so that you can survive a battle. You can find out which ones they are in our Tier List.

Which are the best weapons? Currently, there are 6 types of weapons in the Early Access of Hytale, but not all of them are worth using against your enemies. We have therefore compared all weapons, gathered opinions from the community, and ranked them in our Tier List. Here are the results we have come up with:

Currently, swords and bows are the most reliable choices, as they are easy to use and offer advantages that their competitors do not have. Below, we will discuss the best weapons in the S-Tier and explain why they have earned their ranking.

Please note that this is only a provisional neutral ranking. If, for example, you love daggers and can quickly slice through enemy crowds with them, there’s nothing wrong with placing them at tier S in your personal ranking. If you have feedback, feel free to share it in the comments.

The best weapons – These are the ones you should take

Sword – The best melee weapon

Why is the weapon so good? The sword impresses above all with its fast attack pattern and high range. The biggest advantage, however, is that it is a one-handed weapon. You can carry a sword and simultaneously protect yourself with a shield or illuminate dark areas with a torch.

This makes traveling much easier and fighting safer. The disadvantage of the sword is its low damage compared to the available two-handed weapons. Fights tend to drag on as a result.

Bow – The best ranged weapon

Why is the weapon so good? The bow has the highest range of all weapons when fully drawn. The damage is solid, and maintaining your ammunition is easy since arrows are not costly to produce. The problem with the bow is the long draw time, which can leave you vulnerable in close combat. Enemies can then easily take advantage of you.

So, if you use the bow, it’s best to fight at long distances, with the option to switch to your melee weapons in critical situations.

What about the weapons at tiers A and B? They are not bad in themselves and can also carry you through to the endgame. However, they have greater disadvantages compared to S-tier weapons. In the hands of inexperienced adventurers, using them can cost you your life more quickly. But if you’re already skilled, there’s nothing wrong with using them.

In Hytale there are many resources and some of the most important are the ores. With them, you can craft powerful weapons and armor, but the final tier of these items requires the ore Mithril. We will show you what the ore is all about and whether it can already be found.

Where can I find Mithril? Unfortunately, no one knows exactly at this point. Our research yielded no results, and many players and streamers are currently at a loss. The strange thing is: Mithril is already mentioned and depicted in the crafting menu for weapons and armor. The ore officially exists, but there are no details regarding its location.

Many fans suspect that, since Hytale is in Early Access, Mithril has not yet been unlocked for players. So it could be that you can only access the strongest items in the game at a later time. Until then, you will have to settle for Adamantite.

Using Mithril – What you need the ore for

What do I need Mithril for? Those who have made significant progress in Hytale will sooner or later encounter items in the forge that require Mithril for crafting. These primarily include weapons and armor. They come after the versions made of Adamantite and thus represent the strongest version of the craftable gear.

However, you currently cannot craft these as the mentioned ore is not findable.

Can I still test the items? Yes, you can, but not in survival mode. You need to start a round in “Creative Mode” and add the items as well as the ore from the item catalog to your inventory. This way, you can test and examine them without having to find the ore in the world.

Wood is one of the most commonly needed blocks in Hytale. There are different types of wood that you can find in the world. In this guide, we will explain how to find Darkwood and how to use it.

What is Darkwood? Darkwood is a very dark wood that you obtain from Cedar Logs – so don’t be confused if you don’t find an item in your inventory called Darkwood (Trunk), Cedar Logs automatically count as Darkwood.

The material is in high demand because you need it for various items that you can craft with your workbench, wooden planks for further processing, or for important upgrades.

The description of the material in German is:

„Darkwood is a characteristic tree with dark bark that occurs in the boreal forests and mountain regions of Zone 3. The Outlander faction prefers this wood for their settlements and buildings, making it a typical material of the Taiga. Darkwood trees grow tall and straight, providing high-quality wood with a rich, dark color.“

This also gives you a first hint about where to find it.

Finding Darkwood in Hytale – Here are the best locations

Where is the best place to find Darkwood Trunks? As mentioned in the description, you mainly find Darkwood in the cold Tundra Zone 3. When you look at your map, you can easily recognize the area by its barren, yellowish-beige landscape and the snow.

Then keep an eye out for trees with a rather bluish-green tint; those are the Cedars (Cedar) that you need to fell for the Darkwood Trunks. They are large coniferous trees with dark brown bark that you can hardly miss.

To mine Darkwood, you need an axe – whether it’s wood, stone, or better. Don’t be confused if your inventory says Cedar Log and not Darkwood Trunk. Cedar Logs automatically count as Darkwood Trunks, so you can use them directly.

Each tree gives you some logs, so once you’re in the Cedar forest, you can easily farm enough material.

In this way, you can easily find the necessary material for your upgrades. If you’re generally on the hunt for urgently needed upgrades for your tools and more, you won’t be able to avoid the ore Thorium either.
