After it was announced last year that New World would soon come to an end, the developers are now revealing the official death date of their MMO. What players can expect until then is explained in a community post where they clarify existing questions.
When will New World officially die? On the official website of the MMO, the developers announced in a new community post that New World: Aeternum will go offline on January 31, 2027. At the time of the post’s release on January 15, 2026, the title will no longer be available for purchase in any stores; however, those who have already purchased New World can still spend approximately a year in the MMO.
However, they mention another relevant date that active players should keep in mind. If you want to purchase luck tokens for the remaining time of the game, you can only do so until July 26, 2026. After that, the store will be closed.
Developers promise players support until the last breath
What additional information do the developers provide regarding the next and last year in New World? In an attached FAQ, the creators of New World address further questions that players might have about the initiated end. What conclusions can be drawn from their answers:
- After January 31, 2027, New World will no longer be playable on any platform.
- From July 27, 2026, you will no longer be able to purchase luck tokens or anything else in the store.
- There will be no refunds for luck tokens.
- You will no longer be able to purchase the game; it will be unavailable anywhere.
- If you previously purchased New World but have uninstalled it, you can download and install it again.
- There will continue to be bug fixes to provide players with a smooth gaming experience until the end.
- World bosses and bonus weeks will continue until the server shuts down.
- The last Nighthaven season will be extended until the end on January 31, 2027.
What else do they want to convey to their player base? In addition to clarifying potential questions, the team wants to thank their community once again for their dedication and passion.
