With Lord of Hatred, fishing was also introduced as a new feature in Diablo 4. And it just so happens that this gives you a secret pet that especially World of Warcraft players will appreciate – or evoke terrible memories.
What kind of companion is this? The little companion collects materials in Diablo 4, goes by the name “Trawghll”, and not only does it remind you of a notorious beast from the MMORPG World of Warcraft because of its name, but also due to its whole appearance: a Murloc.
You can see it on the title image, and when you take a closer look at it, you’ll also grasp a hint on how to bring it to your side. For in its small backpack are a fishing rod and fish – and this is not only a hint towards its typically moist habitat near coasts, but also about how you can unlock it.
What exactly is a Murloc?
Anyone who has played WoW or at least has only superficially dealt with it can’t avoid these little pests, as they have become a kind of mascot for the MMO over the years. Their iconic battle cry (we’re talking about: Mrglglrglglglglglglgl!) evokes nostalgia and sweat for many players alike, especially for those who have played WoW Vanilla or are now playing WoW Classic.
Due to their treacherous combat style, where they flee in panic and often bring reinforcements, countless players share a common beginner’s agony from the starting area with them. Their fishy visage with the huge bulging eyes is also a clear identifying feature.
Mrglglrglglglglglglgl!
How do you get Trawghll? It’s established that you can catch the loot pet as a very rare drop while fishing. On Reddit, some players report an “absurd number” of attempts. There doesn’t seem to be a special place or specific requirement, but Trawghll simply doesn’t show up often. So theoretically, you can fish wherever you want.
According to some reports in the thread, a time investment of 3 – 5 hours is normal. So you should bring time and ambition if you want to win the Murloc as a companion. Whether there are ways to slightly increase the chances seems to be unknown at this time.
How is the pet received by the community? In several threads on Reddit, many users are taking it upon themselves to win the little pest for themselves, now that players have figured out how to get it:
- AlphaZephryn writes: “Damn, my weekend is now a fishing weekend!”
- FastFingerJohn jokes: “Tyrael, postpone the war plans for a moment. I’m going fishing.”
- Gilfusu gives the tip: “Remember that you can fish on the way to the Horadrim cave in the volcano. You can always find a mythical fish there.”
- SphincterWrinkles adds: “The same goes for the fish you catch in the sand dunes and the fish you catch in blood pools.”
