It is time for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG News in 5 Minutes”. We summarize the most important news about the best genre in the world. You can expect price changes in HdRO, a giant boss, and several playtest experiences.
Highlights of the week:
- In a new preview of the upcoming expansion “The Frozen Divide: Nix” of Throne and Liberty, the bosses were the focus. Featured: the 200-meter giant Vegamor, who stomps through the snowy plains and can only be defeated with the right strategy. You can find out the exciting details on the official German website of the MMORPG.
- MeinMMO demon Cortyn tells a story today that takes place on a WoW realm – about a troll with too much free time and not enough ideas for his life.
- Ragnarok Zero revives the ancient MMORPG from the early 2000s, and MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus took a look at the open beta – with mixed feelings. Despite the love for the game, he cannot recommend it. At least not like this.
- Turning successful MOBAs into an ideally equally successful MMO spin-off – this is the goal currently being worked on by 2 studios. While the LoL MMORPG will probably take many more years, the competitor from China is already impressing in the playtest. We played Honor of Kings: World again!
- While many consider New World as an example of the failure of MMORPGs, Jack Emmert, the head of the three MMORPGs from Cryptic, has a completely different view of the genre.
What else happened? In a current discussion, part of the MMORPG community looks back on what are probably the last truly great years of the genre. Particularly, Wildstar, ArcheAge, and Tera are in the focus of nostalgic memories. However, they are also receiving considerable flak: “Wildstar is the most overrated MMORPG of all time” – players reflect on the last good years for online role-playing games
The Lord of the Rings Online subscription is getting more expensive
