The developers of Throne and Liberty have introduced “The Frozen Divide: Nix”, the new expansion of the Free2Play MMORPG. MeinMMO summarizes all the important details for you here.
What is known about the new expansion? “The Frozen Divide: Nix” will be available on the servers of Throne and Liberty on June 25, 2026, and is, like the MMORPG itself, free to play. The major new features include:
- The eponymous region Nix
- Gauntlets as a new weapon
- Expansion of the leveling phase up to level 60
- 2 new cooperative dungeons
- New movement mechanics for exploring Nix: the Aether Suit and the Aurora Path
More details about these features can be found on the second page. There you will also learn how the roadmap looks after the launch of the expansion. The new announcement trailer for “The Frozen Divide: Nix” prepares you for the new content of Throne and Liberty:
“I can’t wait”
How is the community reacting to the announcement? Very mixed. Under the YouTube trailer, the excitement of the fans is palpable.
- theophileblp7210 writes: “Finally! I am so hyped for this! Great job!”
- onurbaser agrees: “Fantastic! I can’t wait to come back. I’m hoping for a lot more content.”
- uncontestedowl42 adds: “Looks absolutely massive. I can’t wait.”
On Reddit, many players seem rather underwhelmed, as they have fundamental issues with Throne and Liberty.
- StageAppropriate7064 explains: “Without changing the daily tasks in the game and the pointless open-world events, they can add whatever they want – I’m definitely not coming back.”
- kajidourden feels the same: “The gear and class system needs a revamp before I touch the game again.”
- AgentAled takes a more conciliatory tone, although it doesn’t sound like he wants to play himself: “Great news for everyone still playing the game: tons of content and a plan for the upcoming months. I hope the players enjoy it, and that everyone who comes in to try it has fun.”
Is MeinMMO editor Karsten Scholz looking forward to the expansion? I had quite a bit of fun with the launch version of Throne and Liberty. I particularly enjoyed the “massively” feeling, the dungeons, and the exploration of the world with the beast forms. However, the payment model with its pay2win vibes and the high grind factor got on my nerves after a while.
The fact that I only briefly looked at the first expansion “Wilderness of Talandre” was also due to the decay of the community. No one in my guild was online anymore. Many of the still-active communities demanded absurd online times. After reaching the maximum level of 55, motivation quickly faded to log in regularly.
I can understand the mixed reactions from the community quite well. The new trailer definitely makes me want to download the game again and dig up my old character. However, I fear this will just be a brief visit again. How about it: Are you looking forward to “The Frozen Divide: Nix”? Feel free to let me know in the comments! Anyone who wants to learn more about the new expansion will find it on the next page.
