In Sanctuary, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft, the eternal war will soon be unleashed. In the midst of it all: the Lich King. MeinMMO reveals what else the crossover event has to offer.
What kind of crossover event is this? The party for the 20th anniversary of World of Warcraft is underway, and of course, Blizzard cannot resist extending the celebrations to other games from the studio. The newly announced crossover event “Eternal War” is set to run from November 13, 2024, to December 11, 2024, in Diablo Immortal.
The most important information about Diablo Immortal in less than three minutes:
The following content awaits you during the event (via blizzard.com):
- Challenge the Lich King in the Fallen Citadel and earn a legendary weapon skin.
- The battlefield “Cutthroat Basin” is inspired by the Arathi Basin from WoW and lets you engage in PvP combat on the side of the Alliance or Horde. The Conqueror mode is available to you. Character level, items, and gem levels are normalized.
- Through the first stages of the Eternal War, you unlock free rewards, such as a legendary gem (Mourneskull, 2 stars), a skin for Frostgram, a portal to the Ice Crown, ten legendary banners, and more.
- Through daily tasks, the battle against the Lich King, and participation in the challenges in the “Cutthroat Basin,” you earn “Frozen Boons” to earn various anniversary rewards in WoW style, such as banners, emojis, and weapon skins for all classes.
- From November 6 to November 17, there are new rewards for logging in and an experience points bonus for the Battle Pass.
- During the Eternal War, you can obtain your own Murloc skin for your Familiar! This skin has unique Master Angler properties that occasionally double the number of caught fish.
- Through the Phantom Market, you can secure a Betrayer-Illidan skin from November 13 to December 11, 2024. Additionally, several Ashbringer skins will appear in the shop for a limited time.
Fancier skins than in Diablo 4
Below you will find a gallery with some skins that Blizzard has already presented for the crossover event.

What does MeinMMO editor Karsten Scholz think of the event? Personally, I think very little of Diablo Immortal. The game feels like a “best of” the monetization strategies that have prevailed over the past decade and does not shy away from clear pay-to-win elements.
All the more bitter is that some of the new skins of the crossover event have turned out really great and even look better than comparable skins from Diablo 4. I’m thinking here of the Illidan skin. Do you feel the same way, or do you prefer the cosmetic treats from D4? You can now play as Arthas or Illidan in Diablo 4, but it costs a significant amount of money.
