In Diablo 4, Blizzard just can’t seem to keep a gameplay leak from the beta off the internet. Since the evening of October 19, about 5 hours of gameplay have been visible on a French file-sharing site. The gameplay is still online. Users are showing the supposedly strictly confidential material with Russian and Chinese interface menus.
What’s going on with Diablo 4?
- Apparently, a closed beta for the new Diablo IV from Blizzard has been running for a few weeks.
- No one is allowed to talk about this beta in public as participants have likely signed an NDA.
- But since October 19, a leak of about 5 hours of gameplay has been online, and Blizzard either can’t get it down or hasn’t even noticed it yet.
Leak for Diablo 4 has already generated nearly 50,000 downloads
What kind of gameplay is this? The gameplay is on the website gofile.io and consists of 4.8 gigabytes of data: There are 4 videos titled “Diablo 4 Beta Live” (via gofile.io).
Raw gameplay is visible without major cuts: The interface has Chinese and Russian characters.
According to the site, one of the files has already been downloaded over 18,000 times – how often the video has been viewed live on the site is unknown. In total, the gameplay leaks are said to have been downloaded over 48,000 times.
What’s the problem? From other sources like Twitter, Twitch, or YouTube, Blizzard can easily have this content removed via copyright strike. Moderators on Reddit are also on the lookout to remove leaked gameplay.
However, Gofile.io is a “free and anonymous platform to share data,” according to its own claims.
According to the website’s terms, the uploaded material is actually against the guidelines there as it apparently represents a breach of confidentiality clauses (NDA) (via gofile.io). The site is based in France – but for some reason, Blizzard still seems to have taken no action against the leak.
How is the gameplay being discussed? Generally, Diablo 4 is currently being praised. One user who has seen the gameplay says (via reddit):
- The combat feels good – the animations and sound are strong
- The game is challenging – Diablo 4 apparently offers a good balance, players have enough time to react
- The new Paragon system looks good
However, the user also criticizes that the damage of the skill system is based on weapons and there are no rune words. Additionally, it looks like so many rare items drop that players can’t even pick them up.
