Diablo Immortal faced a tough start. However, as Blizzard reveals now, it seems that has changed, as the current player numbers would suffice for the top 4 on Steam.
How many players are currently playing Diablo Immortal? As reported by TheGamer recently, around 400,000 players are currently playing the mobile spin-off of the Diablo series daily. This means Diablo Immortal would currently rank 4th among the most played Steam games if it could be played on that platform (via SteamDB, as of October 26, 2025, 10:15 AM).
Currently, only PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, Dota 2, and Counter-Strike 2 are doing better in daily peaks. This shows how popular Diablo Immortal is among its players. However, this is by no means the case for everyone, as Diablo Immortal is facing backlash mainly due to the in-game shop and P2W accusations.
In an interview with TheGamer, lead artist Emil Salim explains how Diablo Immortal can still be so successful in his opinion and engages its community.

What reasons does the lead artist give for the success? Emil Salim reports in the interview that he sees several points for the success of the mobile spin-off. On the one hand, he sees the close connection to the community of the development team as a decisive aspect of why the game is currently so popular:
“I think today’s success of Diablo Immortal says a lot about the work of the development team”, explains Salim. “We work very closely with our players, listen to them, and work hard to realize their wishes.”
He further explains, “The game releases a lot of content, much of which is also meant to experiment with things. We are not afraid to push boundaries. When our players give feedback, we always listen to them and continue to improve the game. Many of these efforts have led to the great success that Diablo Immortal represents today.“
He is particularly proud of the recent achievements they have made in overhauling the PvP system. Additionally, the team has an endless stream of ideas for new content, which in his opinion can hardly run dry. Everyone has so many ideas that they don’t even know how to fit everything in.
Finally, he mentioned that there is a lot of new content already planned for next year. However, he cannot go into further detail.
