The CEO of CD Projekt Red and the corresponding head of The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2077 knows that the continuation of the Witcher series must achieve more than just meeting the expectations of a good game.
What kind of redemption is being discussed? The launch of Cyberpunk 2077, which CDPR CEO Michał Nowakowski describes in an interview with Edge Knowledge (via GamesRadar+) as a “heartbreaking” time for the studio, has left its marks.
While the studio has been able to save the RPG with many fixes, the rocky start has severely shaken players’ trust in CD Projekt Red. The CEO is also aware of this.
“I am not 100 percent convinced that we have completed the full redemption arc,” he explains. However, he does not want to give up on this path and knows that The Witcher 4 could and should be the salvation.
Trust should be restored
How does the CEO deal with the players’ distrust? Instead of invalidating the players’ distrust, he describes the community’s caution as a fair reaction:
“I am convinced that we have lost the trust of some people indefinitely, and that’s okay. But I sincerely hope that we can make it right – if not with ‘The Witcher 4’, then with whatever comes next.”
Besides The Witcher 4, the third part of the series is getting a new expansion, but also a sequel for Cyberpunk 2077 as well as another IP called “Project Hadar” is in the works at CD Projekt Red.
