A gamer wrote fan mail to the developers of Helldivers 2. Now they have responded to him and are receiving a lot of support from the community.
A player of Helldivers 2 reports on Reddit that he sent a letter to “Arrowhead Game Studios” 7 months ago. In it, he thanks them for creating Helldivers 2, the game that formed his group of friends, and which made them laugh multiple times.
Now he has received a letter, as he joyfully announces in a post in the subreddit of the co-op shooter: “7 months ago, I sent fan mail to Arrowhead, and they contacted me today! I’m sorry to say that I’m not sure who ‘KB’ is, but still! This is so cool! GENERAL BRASCH KNOWS WHO I AM.”
The development studio responded with a letter. In the envelope, in addition to a handwritten thank you from community manager Katherene Baskin (“KB” aka The Baskinator), there is also a congratulatory card and a letter from Über-Erde.
What exactly is in the mail? The developers responded in a Helldivers-appropriate manner. The letter included a congratulatory card in the colors of Über-Erde, acknowledging his service as a Helldiver and corresponding congratulating him. The card is signed by General Brasch, our superior, whose voice greets us at the start of the game in the training center and guides us through the tutorial.
A short note was also included, explaining the delayed arrival of the mail. This note is also not written from the developers’ perspective, but from Über-Erde:
Message about a strategic mail delay
Dear citizen,
The High Command has approved a temporary reconfiguration of the communications network, which has affected the deliverability of your mail.
We apologize for any inconvenience this delay may have caused.
We appreciate your continued commitment to Über-Erde and thank you for your patience as we reinforce our supply lines and solidify our communication across the galaxy.
For the glory of Über-Erde,
The Super Postmaster General
This is how the community reacts: The post is received very positively in the Helldivers subreddit. Many find the developers’ response cool, especially since they respond in a Helldivers-accurate manner on behalf of Über-Erde. Additionally, there are praises for community manager Katherene Baskin. Some players are convinced that Arrowhead should have hired her earlier.
The position of community manager is also a hot seat in Helldivers 2. Over the past few years, there has been intense criticism from players. When the topic of mandatory PSN in Helldivers 2 flared up in 2024, a community manager even lost his job: The community manager of Helldivers 2 was fired: Players want him back
