An email excites fans of GTA 6 and sparks hopes for a new trailer.
What kind of leak is this? A leaked email from the American retailer Best Buy is currently making the rounds on Reddit and X. It announces a pre-order campaign for GTA 6 that is set to launch next week, on May 18, 2026.
This gives some fans hope that the highly anticipated 3rd trailer could be right around the corner.
How realistic is this? At least in the case of the email, it doesn’t appear to be a fake. This was confirmed by an assessment from Insider Gaming, which is considered a reliable source. However, it is still a leak and not an official announcement from Rockstar.
Furthermore, the authenticity is supported by the fact that it is an affiliate email. It makes sense that partners receive such a message ahead of customers to prepare their promotional materials.
But even if the email is real, the date may not be. In the past, there have been several supposed leaks from retailers that turned out to be mere placeholder dates. Nevertheless, several factors support May 18:
- The release is scheduled for November, a 6-month pre-order period would be quite typical.
- Take-Two Interactive will present the quarterly figures for Q4 and the fiscal year 2026 on May 21. A major announcement shortly beforehand would fit nicely.
However: Even if pre-orders for GTA 6 are indeed set to begin on May 18, that does not automatically mean that Rockstar will release a new trailer as well. This part is still pure speculation – and certainly a bit of wishful thinking – from fans who have been waiting for substantial announcements for months.
