In one of his streams, Erik “Gronkh” Range talked about the pressure that comes with working as a Twitch streamer and that he didn’t actually choose it.
What does Gronkh say about his profession? With over 1.8 million followers on Twitch, Gronkh is one of the largest streamers in the German-speaking area. However, this comes at a cost, as he explains in one of his streams (highlight on YouTube). He shares that he spends most of his time indoors, is always very busy, and rarely goes out. This has affected his mood, he says, and his biorhythm is in shambles
.
Even when people say: ‘Oh man, being an influencer or a creator is super easy.’ I would say, the actual work itself: It’s not hard to play a game and record it. […] Um, but I believe that, all in all, there is a reason why you hear so many stories about people who have basically broken down. Whether they tried streaming, whether they tried Let’s Plays back in the day, or something else. There are many people who have just broken under much less.

In response to a comment from his viewer chat that he chose his life, Gronkh reacts annoyed. Because he did not choose his life, he says, and he actually wanted to become a programmer back then. It just became more and more, says the Twitch streamer.
In the future, Gronkh wants to live with his partner Pandorya both in their current rented apartment and in their house at the same time. They want to work and live in both places. The content creator calls this a huge luxury
and a chance to get out
.
Despite all the stress, Gronkh is also finding more and more quiet moments in everyday life. For example, he enjoys observing and photographing woodpeckers and tits in his garden.
The downside of being a Twitch streamer: Gronkh is not the only Twitch streamer or YouTuber who reports on a packed schedule and the stress that comes with it. Sebastian “Rewinside” Meyer also had to take a longer break in December 2025 due to a burnout diagnosis. He was not seen in public for several months, but is now back.
The Twitch streamer LetsHugo also had to say goodbye for a while. His mental state had deteriorated and he feared he was heading for burnout. LetsHugo eventually returned after a few months as well.
In itself, being a Twitch streamer or influencer is not particularly hard compared to the actual work done. However, all influencers are self-employed and often have employees whose salaries they need to pay.
This can exert immense pressure on an individual, especially when success is tied to view counts on Twitch and YouTube. Something that can often be complicated by opaque algorithms.
What do you think of Gronkh’s workload? Can you relate to his attitude? Let us know in the comments!
Even the Twitch streamer Papaplatte recently had to say goodbye to his streaming career for some uncertain time: Papaplatte is taking a break from Twitch, wants to touch grass: “A bit creepy for me”
