How to prepare? First, you need a powerful build to have any chance against the tough boss. A list of the best builds in the endgame of Diablo 4 can be found in the tier list for the current season. The more damage you deal, the less time the Harbinger has to hurt you.
Additionally, it doesn’t hurt to equip yourself with enough resistance against shadows or to bring corresponding potions, as the Harbinger hits hard.
What should you pay attention to in the fight? With the Harbinger of Hatred, your evasion skills are crucial. You need to pay attention to his attacks:
- Dangerous Bite
- Dodge early as soon as he opens his mouth
- Shadow Circles
- Spawn beneath you and explode, move quickly out of the circles
- Deadly Barrage
- Dodge behind the boss as soon as you see fire in his mouth
- Hatred Projectiles
- Slow orbs that you can easily dodge
- You recognize the attack by glowing tentacles

- Hecht Leap
- Move quickly sideways out of the attack area
Additionally, the Harbinger of Hatred opens portals at 75, 50, and 25 percent of his health, from which more enemies spawn. To stop them, you must destroy the portals.
