For nearly 30 years, an enemy in Diablo has scared you, but in the current part, he is no longer a problem at high levels. However, his boss version is much stronger than intended and drives many players to despair. With patch 3.0.2, that changes.
Which enemy are we talking about? It’s the Butcher, the boss who can surprise you randomly in any dungeon. You will notice him at the latest by the stomping footsteps and his “Ah, fresh meat!” when he comes at you. Experienced players can only smile tiredly at him at high levels.
With Season 12, the Butcher then became a Hideout Boss in Diablo 4. Here you can target him in his own dungeon to receive his loot. However, this fight is currently so tough that Blizzard now has to make adjustments.
What is being patched: The Hideout version of the Butcher simply has too many hit points and deals massive damage, especially one of his attacks is according to Blizzard significantly harsher than planned.
In addition to the adjustments for the Butcher, the patch brings several bug fixes. Moreover, the issue is resolved that monsters can spawn in cities, as many players are currently reporting here on Reddit.
Patch 3.0.2 fixes these issues and is set to be released on May 13, 2026. We expect the download to be ready around 7:00 PM German time.
Boss fight against the Butcher feels designed for 4 players
This is what players say about it: On Reddit, the community is already discussing the adjustment. Many find the fight so unfair that it felt like a boss fight for a four-player group even when solo.
One user reports that he had to lower the difficulty by four torment levels to even have a chance. Others compare his HP bar to that of Uber bosses like Lilith.
The fight against Lilith, the Daughter of Hatred, is still considered the ultimate challenge in the ARPG. If you want to challenge her or are still looking for the right gear for the (soon weaker) Hideout Butcher, take a look at our current tier list with the strongest endgame builds in Season 13 of Diablo 4.
