The Traveler
The Traveler was the most mysterious being in the Destiny universe throughout the “Light and Darkness” saga. As a massive spherical entity, it brought prosperity and technological advancement to countless civilizations before finally reaching humanity during the Golden Age. After the Collapse, it remained above the Last City and created the Ghosts that have since revived the Guardians with the Light.
In The Final Shape, the Witness invaded the Bleached Heart of the Traveler to impose his vision of the “Final Shape.” However, the Guardians, together with their allies, managed to defeat the Witness and free the Traveler from its influence. The Traveler survived the conflict and remained the source of Light, but for the first time, it became clear that it is not omnipotent and can be wounded.
With Monument of Triumph, the story of the Traveler does not end in its death or disappearance. Instead, it leaves the center of attention and returns to being the mysterious being it was for many years. While its light continues to protect the Guardians, the future of the solar system no longer depends solely on it. The focus now turns to new cosmic powers like The Nine and the previously unknown entity speaking at the end of Monument of Triumph through Lodi.
