Ikora Rey
With the Edge of Fate expansion, we first learned who Ikora Rey was in her previous life. Before she was revived by her Ghost Ophiuchus, she was named Nella Davis. She lived long before the Golden Age in the USA and worked for the United States Department of External Observation (DEO) on a project called Graviton. As a human, she died in a “car accident,” but it was not an ordinary accident, but an interference by The Nine in the timeline.
With the end of Destiny 2 and Monument of Triumph, Ikora is the only one of the classic Vanguard trio (Cayde-6, Zavala, Ikora), who has been with us since 2014, to remain actively in office and still possesses her light.
Thus, Destiny 2 does not end for Ikora with a tragic sacrifice, but with the completion of her character development: from the hot-headed student of Osiris to the most important leader of mankind, who now guides the fate of the Guardians in a new era.
