Yesterday marked the launch of the “Monuments of Triumph” update and the end of an era for Destiny 2. To bid farewell, active and returning players gathered, making the game a global bestseller on Steam.
What can the community be proud of? As noted by the X account @DestinyBulletin on June 9, 2026 at 23:49, Destiny 2 reached the top spot of the Top 100 best-selling titles by total revenue on Steam. A success that the community recognizes on Reddit with the acknowledgment that “this is even more important than player counts.”
At the time of publication (11:00 AM), Counter-Strike 2 managed to reclaim the global top spot. However, not only Destiny 2, but also Destiny 2: Renegades (3rd place on the charts) and Destiny 2: Forsaken (7th place) remain in the Top 10.
Top Seller Despite Free to Play
How is the Destiny 2 player community reacting to this success? The community, having marked June 9 as an important day to collectively make a statement, is pleased with the results they were able to achieve.
On Reddit, players report that they have taken the opportunity of the final update to catch up on DLC purchases they previously missed. They are currently in a big sale, whether purchased individually or as part of “Destiny 2: The Collection,” which is 88% off and available for just under 26 euros on Steam.
