Crimson Desert introduces 2 new playable characters, showcases the world and features in a large video series

In a new Deep Dive, the creators detail the features of Crimson Desert. The first video already brings some big news: Kliff will not be the only playable protagonist. There is also new information about the open world and all the things you can do there.

Crimson Desert now shows this:

• In a new video on YouTube, the developers showcase new gameplay for Crimson Desert and outline the rough storyline. You fight for the survival of your clan, the Greymanes, but become involved in more.
• A particularly striking point: the information has been that Kliff will be the only playable protagonist, which has already caused criticism. The developers now introduce two new playable characters.
• Who the two are has not yet been revealed, but there is a woman with a two-handed sword and pistol as well as a burly man with an axe and cannon. They all are said to have different play styles.

What else is new? In the video, the developers also discuss the open world of the game. For example, the world of Pywel is divided into a total of five areas, and the eponymous “Crimson Desert” is only a part of it.

In each area, there are unique quests and narratives, which usually revolve around the factions of the world. Some tasks are said to take longer, involving large castle sieges, while others are shorter and quieter. Which of these quests you pursue and in what order is said to be entirely up to you.

Additionally, there should be hidden encounters and secrets that you can discover, inviting exploration. You will have different abilities, such as raven-like wings for short flights or double jumps as well as a controllable dragon as a mount.

“This somehow combines everything into one”

The sheer amount of content that Crimson Desert has presented, especially the different ideas like dragons, cannons, wings, and medieval aesthetics, has led to some discussions in the comments.

While many users welcome the ideas, others are skeptical whether the developers might take on too much and whether everything will really work at release. Some are even doubtful whether Crimson Desert will be released at all.

In particular, the fact that Kliff will no longer be the only playable character, but that two more will be added throughout the story, has caused quite a stir. At least a few fans seem to have hoped for such news.

However, the release date is already set: Crimson Desert is set to release on March 19, 2026, after some delays, and until then, Pearl Abyss plans to publish more videos of this kind to showcase more features of the game.
