Crimson Desert was a huge success in early 2026. While fans are eagerly awaiting the DLC, the developers are also planning a version for the Nintendo Switch 2.
What kind of version is this? Pearl Abyss recently had a long briefing with their shareholders. During this, CEO Huh Jin-young, COO Lee Dong-won, and CFO Cho Mi-young also presented the roadmap for the future of the company.
In addition to their next game DokeV, the future of their current flagship, Crimson Desert, was also discussed. Here, the head explained that they want to bring Crimson Desert into the hands of as many players as possible, which also means that they want to bring the title to the Switch 2.
It is playable
What about the version? In the conversation, Huh Jin-young revealed that they already have a running version on the Switch 2. Here, “basic gameplay” is already possible. However, it is still unclear whether they will actually release the version, as the technical limitations of the hardware are indeed challenging. He says:
The Switch 2 version still needs to be optimized and technically verified … therefore, it is currently difficult to confirm a release date. As soon as concrete information is available, we will transparently announce it.
Although this is not yet the final confirmation for a release on the Nintendo console, the CEO’s statements clearly indicate the planned release.
What else is planned? The developers are currently also busy developing new content for Crimson Desert. They are working on a large DLC, as well as improved cutscenes and story expansions. The option to eventually add a multiplayer feature is also being reviewed, although that is technically extremely difficult.
How are players reacting to the plans? The intention to bring Crimson Desert to the Switch 2 is a reason for fans to laugh. For them, it is incredible that they are even trying to bring the hardware-hungry game to the console. They are joking on Reddit:
