Many players know it: The ugly helmet covers the character’s face, or the armor looks like a mess. But can you change the appearance of the equipment in Crimson Desert to still benefit from the stats? MyMMO reveals it to you.
How do you hide equipment? You can set whether you want headgear and weapons to be shown on the character in the settings under Menu → Miscellaneous → Settings → Language and Game. You have the following options:
- Headgear / Helmets
- Always show
- Always hide
- Show only in combat
- Hide only in cutscenes
- Melee weapons
- Everything (meaning: always show everything)
- Only selected weapons
- This means that only the weapon you are currently using from your selection wheel will be displayed. So, if you are currently using your pickaxe, your sword on your belt will not be shown, and vice versa.
- Ranged weapons
- Permanent (meaning: always show everything)
- Only when using
You retain the stats of the equipped gear even if you hide it. So set the options that you like visually. You can also choose whether you want to see the character’s facial accessories or not.
Can you hide other equipment or apply skins?
How can you customize equipment? In Crimson Desert, unfortunately, you cannot currently customize the appearance of your equipment. You can only dye and change the material if you visit a dye house.
So you cannot hide individual pieces (apart from headgear and weapons), nor can you layer the appearance of other armor pieces over your equipped items. You have to live with what you are currently wearing.
Whether such a feature will be added in the future is currently uncertain. So, if you want to go for fashion, you must upgrade your equipment as best as possible or find other ways to cope in the world. Here you can and must be creative and experiment with what works for you.
Crimson Desert is a game that doesn’t hold your hand. Much is explained little or not at all. While this encourages experimentation and puzzling, it can also quickly become frustrating.
