World of Warcraft has been around for over 20 years, and the lore behind all the characters is not easy to overview. A player is working on an addon that aims to make the lore more accessible and has recently given it a new update.
Which addon is it about? In April, we already reported on the mod IMAGO – Chronicle of the Unforgotten. As a relative WoW newcomer, the player (KYLI4N_ on Reddit) was overwhelmed by the world-building and the established characters. He wanted to build an addon with IMAGO that lets you discover the lore while playing.
IMAGO is basically an in-game encyclopedia that unlocks an entry for you as soon as you see a zone or an important character for the first time. The entry then shows a 3D model of the character, an entry about their role in Midnight, and then a timeline for the previous expansions. You can find the addon on CurseForge.
4 months after his original post, KYLI4N_ returns and explains what has happened in the meantime.
Review and New Feature
What has happened in the 4 months? In his Reddit post, KYLI4N_ presents the new features that have been added since his last post.
- Each entry has apparently been revised and rewritten by WoW experts and authors from his Discord community. The number of NPC entries is said to have doubled. It is now said that the addon includes 111 NPCs and 9 zones from Midnight.

has been added in an initial version. This is meant to provide a summary of past expansions. Currently, there is only Midnight, but The War Within is said to be close to release. - There is a new encyclopedia mode that allows you to read the lore without having to unlock entries.

, a feature has been implemented that allows you to read about 150 short lore facts while, for example, fishing or flying.
Additionally, there have been some quality-of-life changes. Currently, they are working on adding NPCs from older expansions. In his post, the user also addresses the community who want to participate in the project. This can be done on his Discord server.
How does the community react to the new post? Even after 4 months, the community is still excited. For instance, OneBudTwoBud (Reddit) writes: This should be a feature in the game.
Omnimon (Reddit) even goes further and comments that Blizzard should pay him for his fantastic idea.
Also, the user nylorcovet7 (Reddit) is thrilled and is particularly thinking of new players: Dude, this is really awesome! Do you actually know how badly WoW needs this for new players? Of course you do! Because you are giving us an S-class solution!
