Caleb Dume was on the planet Kaller with his Master Depa Billaba, where they were dealing with some Separatists. When Order 66 was given, the two fought against the attacking clone troopers with the lightsaber.
In the course of the escape, Depa Billaba lost her life, but Caleb escaped with the help of Clone Force 99, which was largely unaffected by Order 66. He retreated to Plateau City and met the smuggler Janus Kasmir. After initial difficulties, they became partners. Later, they went separate ways and Caleb took on a new name: Kanan Jarrus. He met Ezra Bridger and became his Master.
