Darth Vader is one of the most powerful Sith ever. The following characters have defeated him nonetheless. This includes Emperor Palpatine, who made Vader into what we know him as today.

In this story, Vader attempts to overthrow his master before he joins the Imperial Schism, a group opposing Palpatine. To do this, Vader travels to the planet Exogol, where the Emperor has a base.
Upon arrival, Vader first faces the giant monster Summa-Vermithrax and breaks its will to bring it under his control. However, Palpatine appears, effortlessly kills the beast, and throws Vader to the ground.
Inside the base, Vader sees horrific experiments and the stored weapons. He also finds a large mountain of Kyber crystals, from which painful screams can be heard. The pain penetrates Vader’s mind. Palpatine appears beside him and makes it clear that he can break his apprentice with pure energy. In that moment, Vader realizes that the Emperor is not only superior to him but also understands the system and calculus behind his plans. He gives up, submits, and understands: Resistance is futile.
