What is it about? 17-year-old Iroha spends a lot of her free time in the virtual world of Tsukoyomi, where hopes and dreams of the world come together and a vast social network has formed. Her quiet life takes an unexpected turn when she finds a glowing baby on her way home – apparently, no one is taking care of it. She takes it home, with the firm intention of informing the authorities the next day.
But things take a different turn. The next day, the baby is a young girl and soon becomes a young, peer woman – the reincarnation of the moon goddess Kaguya. She quickly develops a rather gluttonous personality, devouring Iroha’s savings. However, both soon realize that they share a musical talent and begin to conquer the world of Tsukoyomi together. The joy does not last forever – for Kaguya’s disappearance from the moon has been noticed, and she is demanded to return.
What makes Cosmic Princess Kaguya! so special? The modern retelling of a very classic story incorporates many elements that one knows from great anime hits. There are battles like those from the fantastic worlds of Isekai anime, but also idol-themed subjects reminiscent of Oshi no Ko. Additionally, the dynamic between the two protagonists adds a hint of Yuri vibe, rounding off the film’s experience.
