This is exactly what happens to Akira, who accompanies his old friend Ryou on an investigation and wants to infiltrate a wild, orgiastic party. However, this celebration turns out to be a black mass, where devils try to gain control over humans and transform them into demons. Akira can withstand this transformation and gains the power to fight against the other devils. A power he will need often in the future. However, the conflict between him and the devil inside him grows stronger, and soon he is at risk of being overwhelmed by it…
What makes Devilman: Crybaby so special? Devilman: Crybaby features a unique art style and a rather dark and harsh portrayal of cruelty that wonderfully captures the character of the devils. The series sometimes feels like a wild drug trip, where the darkest demon representations blur together and the motivations of the characters are not entirely obvious. However, those who can embrace it will experience an exciting anime with a great soundtrack and a story that will linger long after.
