Better Friends Lists with Labels
One of the oldest and almost untouched features is the friends list. It has hardly changed at all. In the vast world of World of Warcraft, it can be difficult to keep track of all the people you add to it. Because, of course, the list includes not only real friends but also players with whom you have had a good experience.
To help you see more easily why you added people to the list, you can label them. So far, the following labels have been discovered in data mining:
- Professions
- PvP
- Raids
- Dungeons
- Depths
- Quests
- Roleplay
- DPS
- Healers
- Tank
You can also make entries like “Roles” (where you would likely list DPS, Healer, or Tank) and “Interests” – perhaps Quests or Roleplay.
This is meant to help make the friends list clearer, but it will likely just be one component of the overhaul.
This isn’t completely secret, of course. After all, Holly Longdale and Maria Hamilton from Blizzard have already emphasized some time ago that they want to fundamentally revise the social features of the game. It is understandable that even the rather outdated friends list is being reviewed and updated.
Keep in mind that all these features are primarily hints from data mining. It is quite possible that some features will still appear in patch 12.1 – or may be completely discarded or postponed to the future. But it is nice to see that WoW is apparently working on a lot of “Quality of Life” features in the background.
Which of these features do you like best and should be released as soon as possible? And what changes would be urgently needed in WoW because they are outdated or no longer meet modern requirements?
At least for roleplayers, a few more improvements are still needed – because large RP events are currently impossible.
