Call of Duty: Modern Warfare offers dozens of weapons for you to build loadouts. However, many of the weapons remain rather overlooked because they do not fit the “meta”. We show you 3 cool and powerful builds that you surely haven’t had on your radar.
What kind of weapons are these? All three of our featured weapons are “off-meta” weapons, meaning guns that do not rank at the top of the list of best weapons.
They are either more suitable for specific areas, outclassed by other representatives of their category, or may have a somewhat unconventional feel.
By the way, with the Battle Pass for Season 1, 2 new weapons are coming into the game: CoD Modern Warfare: Complete Season 1 Battle Pass leaked – Here’s what’s inside
Why should I play them? Nevertheless, the top weapons are simply not suited for every player. The M4A1 is certainly good, but not every player likes how it plays. Additionally, using the same weapon all the time can get boring in the long run.
Through the Gunsmith feature of Modern Warfare, weapons can be heavily customized. Thus, even off-meta weapons can become fun alternatives that can perform well in the right hands.
1. The PP-19 Bizon in “Assault Rifle” Build
What kind of build is this and what is its purpose? The PP-19 Bizon is a submachine gun (SMG) known for its characteristic 64-round drum magazine. In its standard configuration, it shoots quickly but rather inaccurately.
With our “Assault Rifle” build, you can transform the Bizon into a gun that can compete in range and damage with nearly every assault rifle, but excels at close range.

It is perfect for mid-range combat, still usable over longer distances, and a threat to any close combat fighter. It is particularly strong in multiplayer modes like 10v10 TDM, 10v10 Domination, and Free-for-All.
Here’s how to build the weapon:
- Muzzle: Compensator
- Barrel: 8.7″ polygonal
- Sight: PX Holo 7 Sight (or to preference)
- Stock: Corvus Stock
- Perk: FMJ (Full Metal Jacket)
It’s particularly important to pack the FMJ. Without it, your damage is practically 0 if the opponent is behind cover. With it, you have the option to take down enemy VTOLs and other killstreaks from the air without problems.
What complements it? To play effectively with the weapon in this setup, we recommend:
- Secondary weapon: 725
- Blue perk: Overkill
- Red perk: Hardline
- Yellow perk: Shrapnel
- Equipment: Semtex and Stim
- Field Upgrade: Dead Silence
2. The FN Scar 17 in “Marksman” Build
What kind of build is this and what is its purpose? The FN Scar 19 is a fully automatic assault rifle, available in another variation as an automatic sniper rifle as a secret weapon in Modern Warfare.
Its strength lies at distance, which is not really emphasized in its standard form. Our “Marksman” build transforms it into an effective long-range weapon, allowing you to still compete even at medium distances.
In multiplayer, it is more suited for larger distances, such as for modes like Ground War or maps with long, open distances. Grazna Raid and St. Petrograd are good examples of such maps.
Here’s how to build the weapon:
- Muzzle: Silencer (Monolithic) or Compensator
- Barrel: FORGE TACV 20″ LB
- Sight: Any hybrid sight (e.g. Integrated hybrid sight) or scope
- Perk: Full Metal Jacket or Underbarrel: Bipod grip
- Stock: FTAC Foldable stock or XRK Obelisk Pro
The first of the alternatives focuses more on the “assault rifle” aspect of the weapon, while the second focuses more on the “sniper rifle” aspect. You can experiment with the attachments to create a perfect hybrid.
What complements it? The Scar pairs well with perks and equipment that provide some “utility” and keep you protected:
- Secondary weapon: Strela-P
- Blue perk: Cold-Blooded
- Red perk: Ghost or Alerted
- Yellow perk: Recon
- Equipment: Claymore and Smoke Grenade
- Field Upgrade: Mobile Cover, Trophy System, Special Ammo or Ammo Crate
3. The Uzi in “Run&Gun” Build
What kind of build is this and what is its purpose? The Uzi is known for being an extremely inaccurate and somewhat weak weapon. It is a submachine gun often referred to as a “Spray and Pray” weapon.
In another article, we recently revealed to you the ultimate “Run&Gun” build. This style focuses on fast gameplay, quick movements, and overwhelming the opponent. The Uzi is well-suited for this and even competes with the MP7.
As a “Run&Gun”, the Uzi can essentially be used anywhere. However, it performs best when coordinated with a team to storm areas effectively. Alone, it is also suitable in close modes like TDM, Free-for-All, Confirmed Kill, or similar. YouTuber Mr. Fruit shows it in action in a video:
Here’s how to build the weapon:
- Muzzle: Silencer (Monolithic)
- Barrel: 8.5″ Factory Mini
- Stock: No Stock
- Grip: Textured Grip Tape
- Perk: Sleight of Hand
With this build, you focus on speed without having to sacrifice much else – Out of Control. And you won’t urgently need that because you won’t hit anything at longer distances. You fight purely at close and very close range.
What complements it? With this build, you focus on quickly finding and taking out opponents. Accordingly, the equipment is as follows:
- Secondary weapon: .357 as a shotgun
- Blue perk: Sprinting Speed or Plunderer
- Red perk: Ghost or Hardline
- Yellow perk: Tracker or Recon
- Equipment: Semtex and Stun Grenade
- Field Upgrade: Dead Silence
These builds may not be able to keep up with the top weapons on paper, but they all have qualities that make them special. Played correctly, you can give other players a hard time. Are you looking for more exciting builds? Why not try the MP5K:
