Many are now looking for ways to perfectly customize their weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Players are increasingly coming across the MP5K – a variation of the well-known MP5. We will show you how to build it and what it can do.
What is the MP5K? The MP5K is the “short” variant of the submachine gun MP5 (hence the “K”). It is one of the 15 secret weapons that you can assemble in Modern Warfare.
In principle, it is a special variant of the MP5, which focuses on rate of fire and close combat instead of balance and range. In real life, it is sometimes used as a built-in hidden weapon in briefcases. In Modern Warfare, it is effective for close-quarters combat.

MP5K: Attachments at the Gunsmith
How to build the MP5K: You basically need three or four specific attachments depending on the variant, with which you modify the weapon at the Gunsmith:
- Barrel: FFS Mini
- Stock: FTAC Foldable
- Underbarrel: Ranger Foregrip
- Muzzle: Tactical Suppressor (optional)
From the first three attachments, you can already build the standard variant of the MP5K. However, it is often found with a suppressor, which is why this is part of the standard setup in some builds.
Whether and which suppressor you use is up to you. The choice of additional attachments is also free – laser sights for more accurate hip fire or grips for better recoil control are very useful.
With the mentioned attachments, you are not actually building the “original” MP5K. For that, a different, shorter barrel and the option “no stock” would need to be available. However, this variant is very close to the MP5K.
Is it worth building the MP5K?
The advantages of the MP5K: With the MP5K, you sacrifice range and accuracy in exchange for speed and fire rate. The advantages of the MP5K are:
- precise and strong hip fire
- especially strong in close combat situations (compared to other MP5 variants)
- extremely high agility
With the MP5K, you move faster than most players with the strongest weapons from other categories. You fire faster after a sprint and are quicker to aim, making it a solid choice for a “run and gun” style.
The disadvantages of the MP5K: However, the MP5K also has several disadvantages. Unfortunately, it struggles in many areas:
- extremely inaccurate at longer distances
- small magazine – no chance against multiple opponents
- poor duel characteristics, outperformed by many weapons in various situations
- requires weapon level 51 to build (FTAC Foldable)
In principle: The MP5K is a good variant of the MP5 if you want to succeed with this specific weapon in certain situations. However, other weapons often outshine it.
Here the MP5K is nevertheless useful: If you want to use the MP5K optimally, you should choose the right situation. In certain maps of the multiplayer modes with limited space and many winding houses, such as Hackney Yard, it can be very powerful.
Moreover, according to WhosImmortal, when the ability “Dead Silence” is used, you feel “like a super soldier”. At least until a camper with Claymores and the annoying 725 takes you out.
The MP5K also helps to unlock the rarest weapon skins. As a hip-fire monster, it is the best choice for the MP5 to unlock all “Dragon” sprays that require hip-fire kills. You need these sprays for gold, platinum, and damascus skins.
Conclusion: Is the MP5K worth it?
As a pure weapon for use, the MP5K is rather not useful. Too many “on-meta” weapons outshine it and its area of use is too limited.
However, if you enjoy tinkering and want to customize your weapons maximally with the Gunsmith feature, you will certainly have fun with the MP5K – especially since it has a certain style to dash across the map with it.
Overall, the MP5K is suited for a fast-paced, aggressive playstyle that focuses on hard rushes and chases. It is not for cautious players and campers.
