World of Warcraft finally as an animated series. A new video fuels fans’ hopes and brings tears.
Fans of World of Warcraft are quite satisfied with the current expansion Midnight, as the expectations for a redesign of Quel’Thalas have been met and the housing is quite convincing. However, there is a desire that has been growing in the community’s minds for a long time – for more than 10 years. An animated series is needed. A Warcraft series that runs on Netflix, Amazon Prime, or another streaming provider and is as convincing as “Arcane” was for League of Legends or Cyberpunk: Edgerunners for Cyberpunk 2077.
A new video on WoW’s YouTube channel now brings new hope. Because the music video uses a cartoon style and shows images that clearly illustrate: this is how fans envision it.
What kind of video is this? The video “A Place to Call Home” is a music video from Blizzard in cooperation with singer Aurora. The video shows the journey of a night elf druid – from her first steps during the “Vanilla” time of World of Warcraft, to finding her first friends, and then a journey through various expansions up to Midnight and the housing system.
An anime that follows a group – that would be perfect
Fans want a whole series: Especially the style of the video rekindles in fans the desire that World of Warcraft should indeed be made into a series. After all, there are plenty of stories that would be perfect for it, and the potential audience is also large. This wish is clearly reflected in the comments:
- “Honestly, I am all for an animated series based on World of Warcraft.” – AmazingSpanoMan
- “Seeing Illidan and the Lich King animated was something I didn’t know I needed. MORE PLEASE!” – Snakeskii
- “An anime where you follow a small group traveling through the events of all expansions from a player’s perspective would be just crazy.” – deathwingincarnate6192
Even well-known streamers Taliesin and Evitel comment on this and try to manifest the series into existence:
- “Oh yes, we are definitely getting a series, 100%, I can’t wait.”
Whether fans’ wishes will ever be heard and we will actually get a WoW series remains to be seen. However, Blizzard has recently more frequently released cinematics in a cartoon or anime style and many hope: they wanted to test how well it would be received. If that is the case, then a series is likely to become more and more probable.
Until then, you can at least watch the Race to World First – it might not be so beautifully animated, but it’s still gripping.
