For Where Winds Meet, there is a MIDI player that lets you play music in the game as if you were playing it yourself. However, such tools should be approached with caution. We explain what it’s all about.
What is the MIDI player tool? Anyone who frequently plays in multiplayer mode in Where Winds Meet has surely encountered players who are playing music somewhere and flawlessly performing well-known or original songs on their instruments.
Behind this is often an external program that you need to download separately and start in addition to the game. This program accesses the game files and allows your character to play pre-programmed melodies on the in-game instrument based on what are called “MIDs” without you having to press anything in the game.
Such tools, and similar ones, are not without risk in online games. Players can even be banned because of them, which is why we do not link the software for you. We explain why the MIDI tool is particularly problematic here.
External tools can lead to penalties or bans
Why is the MIDI player particularly problematic? Third-party programs are often tolerated by online games, especially when they are so-called addons that provide you with additional information on the map, ease navigation, or give you an overview of your damage output.
Such tools become problematic, however, when they access and modify game files too extensively, make otherwise restricted game content available, or, as in the case of the MIDI player, empower you to play in-game music that does not comply with the game’s licenses.
So if you play well-known melodies via the MIDI player, such as anime openings, film music, or popular pop songs, it can potentially lead to legal issues. Therefore, such tools are often prohibited and can result in penalties or even temporary or permanent bans for players who use them.
Even if you use self-composed songs and not such tracks, the mere use of the program can already lead to problems. For this reason, we advise you against using third-party tools if you are not 100% sure that the game developers allow this specific program.
In the meantime, some achievements in the game even rely on you doing things for which you get punished. Some of the toughest achievements require you to spend as much time as possible imprisoned in the shortest time. You can find out how to achieve this here: Where Winds Meet: 160 hours in prison in less than 30 minutes – how to master one of the toughest achievements in record time
