The developers of Where Winds Meet have announced the new expansion “Hidden Mountain” and let you explore the mountains of China.
What kind of expansion is this? Hidden Mountain is the third major expansion for Where Winds Meet and will be released for free for all players in July. It brings Where Winds Meet to version 2.0 and takes you to an entirely new region: the Bujian Mountain.
As the name suggests, it goes into the high mountains for the first time. The developers are implementing a real mountain landscape with cliffs and peaks for the first time and expanding the exploration vertically instead of sending you over flat plains or through cities as before.
In addition, a new campaign continues the story of the game, along with the Mohists as a new faction. Thematically, the expansion revolves around humanity’s pursuit of knowledge and wisdom, inspired by the scholars of ancient China.

Unlike anything before
What makes the expansion special? Eric Zheng, Head of Publishing, explained in an interview with Wccftech why the region will be completely different from the previous one. Implementing mountains credibly is a challenge, he says. The atmosphere of the expansion is built on three core elements: Wind, Light and Stone.
Sunlight is supposed to dance over the mountain slopes, wind should echo through the forests, and ancient stone paths should bear the marks of time. A beautiful picture that the developers want to create. The developers’ goal is a world that feels “tangible, immersive, and alive.”
They also set high goals in terms of content, as the Hexi region was an homage to classical poetry and painting of China, the Bujian Mountain is intended to honor the ancient sages and their quest for reason and truth. Here the game stays true to itself, as the developers have been reinterpreting Chinese stories since the release.
What does the gameplay look like? As usual, exciting new challenges and powerful opponents are expected. With the new “Hand Guard Discipline,” a new fist-heavy fighting style is also introduced. The trailer promises a kind of “Wuxia-Punk,” where old Mohist mechanics meet martial arts, which might also remind one of Crimson Desert.
The developers are still holding back many details. Specific information about missions, bosses, and new mechanics will follow, even though the release for version 2.0 is already scheduled for July.
