Instead of playing one of the existing heroes of the lore, it is quite conceivable that Cavill plays an as-yet-unknown character who is established only through the series (or series). In such a case, the emergence of a new space marine would be an excellent template.
Space Marines recruit their members from the ranks of humanity at an early age, so that they can survive the genetic transformation. They are no longer human afterwards.
