Are you currently in Space Marine 2 and wondering why you are such a massive super-warrior towering over all “normal” humans by at least 3 heads? The actor of the protagonist, Clive Standen, has the answer for you.
Who is the main actor?
- Clive Standen is a British actor known for his role as Rollo in the TV series Vikings.
- In Space Marine 2, he lends his voice to Lieutenant Titus and serves as the CGI model for the feared former soldier of the Deathwatch with his facial features.
- In the video series “Titus Talks” by publisher Focus Entertainment, Standen appears and explains various aspects of the game and Warhammer in general – including what a Space Marine actually is.
Clive Standen explains: In 3 minutes, Clive Standen gives a brief insight into the quite comprehensive lore of Warhammer 40,000 and the creation of the Space Marines. He states that if he couldn’t answer this question, he wouldn’t have gotten the job at all.
Warhammer 40,000 has an enormously complex lore, but Standen manages to convey the most important information. His summary:
Space Marines are basically the strongest force ever created. While they were once humans, Space Marines have been genetically modified to be bigger, faster, and stronger.
Standen lists which of these genetic modifications actually take place in a Space Marine during its creation:
- Space Marines have 3 lungs to be able to breathe in any environment.
- In addition, they have two hearts – one in case one gets hit, and the other because one alone couldn’t pump the amount of blood. Or, as Standen says: “To love their brothers twice as much.”
- Enhanced blood that instantly closes any wound.
The list goes on: Not a single organ survives the transformation into a Space Marine unaltered. The video series currently has at least two more videos:

“The best – and bluest – are the Ultramarines”
Clive Standen further explains that every Space Marine belongs to a chapter. And his supposed favorite chapter is – of course – the Ultramarines, as Lieutenant Titus himself belongs to them.
The different chapters have varying tasks, approaches, and dogmas by which they live and venerate their code. Some of these chapters have betrayed the Emperor during the “Horus Heresy” and have fallen into chaos.
