A video game store has come forward, as a strange package containing copies of a rare and therefore expensive game was found in the mailbox. The business is not alone – several stores have received the mystery box.
What does the store report? The owners of the video game store “Double Jump Video Games” are said to have recently received very strange mail. It is a small, unremarkable package containing several sealed copies of the game Poop Slinger.
The title was released in 2018 for PS4 and Windows. The name says it all: In Poop Slinger, you shoot poop at passersby – that’s basically it.
SicCooper from Double Jump Video Games was not familiar with the game. A quick search revealed that the PS4 version of Poop Slinger is apparently very rare, with each copy worth over 1000 dollars, which is about 860 euros.
Not bad for a game that revolves around farts and poop. All the more confused were SicCooper and his colleagues, who could not explain where the strange package came from.
More than just hot air
Who is the sender? That is the big question. The store did not order the games, SicCooper emphasizes in a video on the YouTube channel of Double Jump Video Games.
The copies do come from another gaming store in Virginia, but when asked, the staff there also knew nothing about the shipment. However, it turned out that other stores had received similar packages with the same game.
The situation is as follows: Someone is anonymously sending relatively expensive versions of an unknown PS4 game that has only been available in very limited quantities over the years.
Allegedly, only about 100 copies were released and 84 copies sold. According to the store Cakehoarder (via youtube.com), at least 1,000 copies were produced – the minimum print run for Sony.
The rarity had so far been the reason for the high price. The sudden reappearance of the game in larger quantities is likely to lower the price. A total of 39 packages, each containing 6 copies of Poop Slinger, are reported to have been shipped. What the sender’s motivation is and how the person got possession of the games remains uncertain.
The story raises many questions, but is also delightfully absurd. The owners of Double Jump Video Games want to give away their copies of Poop Slinger and apparently are not interested in a bidding war on various sales platforms. Have you ever heard of the title?
