EVE Online is one of the largest MMORPGs with over 23 years under its belt. Now, a spin-off in the same universe is set to steal the show as an Extraction-Adventure-FPS, against genre competitors like ARC Raiders. You will soon be able to test whether it has the potential for that.
What kind of game is this? With EVE Vanguard, the Icelandic development team at Fenris Creations is launching a new spin-off of their long-standing MMORPG EVE Online. The “Extraction-Adventure-FPS” sends you as so-called Warclones to the planet New Eden to secure vital resources for your survival and to eliminate enemy structures.
Your hub is a mobile command center called Warbarge, where you can gather and manage your operations. Additionally, there are supposed to be numerous options to customize and modify your loadout and weapons to suit your playstyle.
The focus is mainly on the merciless environment and clever teamwork, similar to what is seen in the genre counterpart ARC Raiders. Whether EVE Vanguard has what it takes to follow in its footsteps, you can test soon. But even those who have already had a glimpse of the game might want to take another look.

A fresh playtest with an overhauled system
What is this playtest? From July 7th to 20th, 2026, a playtest for EVE Vanguard will take place again under the name “Operation Avalon”. The game is currently in alpha phase according to the developers, following the last playtest which occurred in pre-alpha.
Based on the feedback from previous players, the combat system has been fundamentally overhauled and new weapons and enemy types have been added. The gameplay loop is also said to have been adjusted and polished. The new enemy types are designed to ensure that players must cooperate if they want to defeat them.
How can you participate? The playtest takes place via the EVE Launcher or Steam. There you can request access to the playtest via the store page.
When is the release of EVE Vanguard? There is currently no exact date. However, the game is planned to be made playable 24/7 by November 2026.
