Imane “Pokimane” Anys is the largest streamer on Twitch by followers. Recently, she reached one of the highest ranks in the shooter Valorant and is now even giving tips on how to follow in her footsteps. However, some people are not happy about her success.
Who is Pokimane? With over 8.2 million followers, Pokimane plays at the top on Twitch. Just behind the current Twitch star xQc, she ranks 7th and operates the largest channel of all female streamers on Twitch (via sullygnome.com).
She is known primarily as a friendly, nice variety streamer who showcases all kinds of games on her stream. Recently, that has mostly been Riot’s shooter Valorant, where she often incorporates “Just Chatting” segments.
She also played a significant role in the big Rust project at the beginning of 2021, helping to make the survival MMO so popular, and still plays it today. Recently, she appeared and explained why people still donate money to millionaires on Twitch.
What has she achieved? On September 18, Pokimane tweeted that she finally reached one of the highest ranks in Valorant: Immortal. This rank is currently reserved for the top 0.5% of players worldwide (via esportstales.com):
Before that, she earned the Diamond rank three seasons in a row, which corresponds to the top 1.5% of players. Above them are only the Radiants, the best 500 players in the world.
Pokimane herself encourages her viewers to follow in her footsteps. She says: “If a shooter noob like me can do it, then anyone can” (via Twitter.com).
She also gives some tips on how to play Valorant better. Aim training and mastering different roles are particularly important:
Pokimane gives tips – trolls troll
These are the reactions: Many responses on Twitter are positive, congratulating Pokimane or calling her a kind of idol and role model for others. However, under the tweet, other, less pleasant discussions also erupted.
- Twitter user @e3dsok claims that reaching higher ranks is easy – it just takes time: “Many players have low ranks but play better than those with high ranks. Why? Because they don’t care. They just play with friends.”
- @grusomeee is even more cynical and asks: “Are they now giving out good ranks for free?”
- @swaggydfromny starts a whole debate and even becomes insulting: “I’ve seen enough of you to know that you’re literally a bronze/silver player who is just being carried by pros.”
Trolls have made life difficult for the streamer before – so much so that she temporarily withdrew from Twitter and even partially from Twitch. However, Pokimane has not interacted with these people on Twitter nor responded.
This is how the streamer responds: At the moment, she seems not to want to deal with it: “It takes all my willpower not to discuss with people who want to discredit me, but whatever. I am so happy!”
Meanwhile, other streamers known as good shooter players fail in Valorant and even become rude:
