The next Community Day in Pokémon GO has been announced. And it brings joy to trainers, even though the monster is actually quite weak.
Last weekend saw the Community Day with Forgita in Pokémon GO, which probably brought joy to many trainers. Forgita was relatively hard to obtain in the game prior to the Community Day and also came with a strong PvP attack.
Now, the next Community Day has already been announced. It will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This time, a monster is in the spotlight that you have probably caught many times yourself – yet the community is still excited.
Normal monster, ground attack, beautiful shiny
What kind of monster is it? The monster of the next Community Day is Ferkuli. This monster comes from Generation 9 and has the Normal type. With Fragrunz, it also has an evolution that brings some visual differences depending on the gender.
If you evolve Ferkuli into Fragrunz during the event or up to 4 hours afterwards, it will learn the exclusive fast attack Mud-Slap.
Additionally, the event also features familiar bonuses, including a significantly increased shiny chance, double catch candy, an increased duration of incense and lures, as well as a significantly reduced distance for hatching eggs (1/4).
Why does the monster bring joy? Although Ferkuli and Fragrunz are not considered to be among the best attackers in Pokémon GO, the announcement elicits much positive feedback on Reddit.
The first reason lies in the fast attack. This could provide the monsters with at least a partial boost in competitive league usage.
However, the greater excitement is for the shiny variant of the monster, which you can acquire during a Community Day with a very high probability if you take advantage of the event.

What does the community say? While some trainers are disappointed with the monster itself, many are excited about the pretty shinies. Some of the comments on Reddit include:
- “What a bore. I’ll pass,” says phillypokego.
- “Since I’ve caught over 1100 of them without a single shiny, I’m excited,” comments westcoastbeergeek.
- “A cute Pokémon with a great shiny – it could be a lot worse,” says biophys00.
- “Honestly, I’ve wanted that shiny since day one,” notes legally-.
