In the Pokémon GO community, a shiny Charmander with a special background is currently making the rounds. However, obtaining it is not easy.
What kind of Pokémon is this? User “Fit-Information-2237” shared a very special Charmander in the Pokémon GO subreddit. It is a shiny that features a Pokémon jet in the background. The post received over 4,000 upvotes.

The comments show excitement: The little Charmander is described as adorable, called “amazing,” and some emphasize their desire to catch this Pokémon.
However, this is not easy at all. This special Charmander is currently only available in Japan – and even there, not everywhere.
How to get Charmander with the jet background?
The Charmander is available from July 28 to August 31, 2026 – but only if you visit certain Japanese airports.
These are the airports:
・New Chitose Airport
・Hakodate Airport
・Akita Airport
・Sendai Airport
・Haneda Airport
・Narita Airport
At these airports, Charmander can appear in Level 1 raids, and if you catch it, it will have the jet background. Trainers can participate in such a raid once a day. And: If you visit the airport, you also receive a limited research task that includes the Pokémon.
Interesting: Remote raids are not enabled for these raids, so you can actually only obtain it by visiting – or through a trade.
The shiny is not guaranteed. The trainer was really extremely lucky to catch this Charmander in this form. Moreover, it didn’t even come from a raid, as the user reports, but was caught first in the limited research.
Why does this Charmander exist? The Charmander is part of an event that Pokémon GO is hosting in collaboration with the Japanese airline ANA. They are celebrating the introduction of the “Pokémon Jet Red,” a plane designed in a special Pokémon style. Soon, a green and a blue jet will also be introduced, which will feature special Pokémon at the airports.
