A trainer faces a special challenge in Pokémon GO – and is quite successful at it.
What is this challenge? As the trainer TheBadHombre_ shows in his post on Reddit, he is currently level 43. What stands out is that he has caught only a single monster, the starter monster.
As he explains in his post, this is exactly how he intends it. All monsters he has received besides the starter monster have hatched from eggs. He has hatched 241 so far. These monsters do not count as caught monsters and therefore do not increase the statistics.
In this way, as he mentions in a comment, he has already caught 1 Hundo (a monster with perfect stats) and 5 Shinies.

How did he come up with the idea? The trainer explains that he created a new account as part of the Pokopia event in Pokémon GO. A bonus of the event was that you would earn ten times the amount of experience points when spinning a new PokéStop.
Originally, the trainer only wanted to use this bonus with the fresh account to set himself a personal challenge: reach level 40 in one weekend. During this time, he refrained from catching monsters. As he states, he managed to reach level 39 that weekend.
He realized that this style of play was so much fun for him that he continued playing even without the bonus. Until reaching level 40, he also did not join any team. Ultimately, he did so to see how many medals he could collect without catching monsters.
In addition to hatching eggs and spinning PokéStops, he also collects experience points by defeating raids and members of Team GO Rocket. However, once he lands on the catch screen, he cancels to avoid catching any monsters.
What are his further plans? The trainer states that he wants to continue this playstyle. Additionally, he has set another goal to acquire all available items for avatars. Whether he will only use the free coins from gyms or invest real money is not mentioned.
In response to another Reddit user asking if he would like to trade monsters in the future, TheBadHombre_ explained that this is not possible. Traded Pokémon also increase the statistics of caught monsters.
