Netflix has already revealed who the new heroes will be before the first teaser trailer for Season 2 of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. Many fans feel reminded of another Anime at the first image.
Who are the new heroes? On the X account of Netflix Anime, you can already see the four new protagonists of the series in advance. The image shows:
- The older Weak Kingsley, who was once known as King. He is said to be an experienced Edgerunner living in the shadow of his former glory.
- The blue-haired D, who is an experienced Netrunner. He is searching for the murderer who wiped out his entire clan.
- The blonde Roman Carax, who is a lover of old films and prefers them to Braindances.
- The pink-haired Talia Yang, who actually comes from the corporations but loves violence and chrome and has a connection to the Maelstrom gang.
So far, no more information is known, as the teaser trailer is not yet out at this time. However, what is known is that the anime is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix in Fall 2026.
However, just by their appearance, many fans feel reminded of a famous team from another anime.
Hair colors and story remind of Naruto
Who do fans feel reminded of? Across several social media platforms like Instagram or Facebook, fans feel reminded of Team 7 from Naruto.
This consists of the pink-haired Sakura, the blue-haired Sasuke, the blonde Naruto, and their white-haired teacher Kakashi as the team leader. No wonder, then, that there are comments like “Welcome back, Team Kakashi” on Reddit.
Especially the background of D strongly reminds of Sasuke. At the beginning of the anime, he is also seeking revenge, as his entire clan was wiped out and he is looking for the murderer.
So far, there has been no official statement from the creators of the series on whether the similarities are purely coincidental. However, it is highly likely that it is a coincidence. We can hardly imagine Sakura acting as a tough Cyberpunk Edgerunner in a second life.
