The Night Elves are one of the most influential races in World of Warcraft. We present to you the most powerful Kaldorei that have ever lived.
With over 30 years of story, there are numerous characters in World of Warcraft that have shaped an extensive history and the face of Azeroth. Few races have had such a significant impact as the Kaldorei – the Night Elves. Therefore, we take the time to introduce the 5 most powerful Night Elves that have ever existed.
Xavius, the first Satyr
Elune … there is only one God … and his name is Sargeras.
Title: The Nightmare Lord | First of the Satyrs | Lord of the Satyrs
Although Xavius is mainly known today as the final boss in the raid “Emerald Nightmare”, his story begins much earlier.
10,000 years ago, during the War of the Ancients, Xavius was the most powerful known mage in Azeroth and a direct advisor to Queen Azshara (as Azshara concealed her magical fate largely from the public). All mages of that time had to measure themselves against Xavius.
Xavius’ interest in magic was so great that the Burning Legion took notice of Azeroth. When Xavius learned of Sargeras, he immediately accepted him as a god and entered his service.
But Xavius failed, was defeated, and as punishment, his soul was tormented by Sargeras. However, the fallen Titan had one more task for the once Night Elf: he transformed him into the first Satyr and sent him back to life. From there, Xavius began to recruit more Highborne and grant them the “gift” of fel magic – and transformed them into Satyrs as well.
Xavius was defeated multiple times by Malfurion, and even his last appearance as “Nightmare Lord”, who wanted to further corrupt the Emerald Dream, was ultimately ended by Malfurion and the heroes of Azeroth.
Xavius is considered the progenitor of all Satyrs still living on Azeroth today. Although Xavius has since – presumably – been completely defeated, he is largely responsible for many of the events that have befallen Azeroth in the last millennia.
