Season 15 in Diablo 4 holds many secrets. However, a particularly colorful one is driving players almost insane. Because a damned perfect cupcake just won’t drop.
Why does everyone want the cupcake? The perfect cupcake is a drop that you can obtain from the unicorn boss in the secret level Whimsyshire. If you obtain it, you’ll unlock a cosmetic city portal that shines in colorful rainbow colors.
However, it is so hard to get that players invest dozens of hours to get their hands on the coveted pastry. Additionally, there is another thought that the community cannot shake off.
Hundreds of Runs and the Uncertainty of the Season
Why are players grinding so much? On Reddit, players report that they sometimes needed between 100 and 300 kills before they could finally shove the cupcake into their inventory and unlock the cosmetic portal. Some had luck after just a few runs, but the majority of players record at least a 3-digit attempt counter.
Those who play Diablo are generally used to grinding, but specifically for this portal, another component is involved. Currently, it is not known whether Whimsyshire will still be accessible after the season. This concern is shared by some users on Reddit.
How likely is it that Whimsyshire will disappear at the end of the season? Relatively unlikely. On the one hand, the extremely low drop chance of the cupcake argues against it, as casual players would hardly have a chance to unlock the item.
On the other hand, there are various ways to open the level that are not completely tied to the season and could thus remain in the game long-term, like the random portals from treasure goblins, which have been part of the game for a long time.
It is not completely ruled out that the portal remains season-exclusive, which probably also contributes to the noticeably high ambition in the community.
Meanwhile, players are particularly celebrating the season. On the one hand, because it hits the right nerve and is finally fun again. On the other hand, because they can reminisce about cozy memories and meet old friends who are also welcome to stay after the season: Diablo is finally in Diablo 4 and players want him to stay
