In Pokémon GO, the summer marathon begins: Arctic Glow. Not only are there Shinies with increased chances, but also a Shiny debut.
What kind of event is this? The new event is called Summer Marathon: Arctic Glow. It will start on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM and run until Monday, August 10, 2026, at 8:00 PM.
Included, as you have surely come to expect, is a GO-Pass. There will also be special spawns in the wild, in eggs, and in field research as part of the event. However, another point may be particularly interesting: 5 Shinies, of which 4 have an increased Shiny chance and one is available for the first time.
Your chance for plenty of Shinies
What kind of Shinies are there? During the event, you can obtain Snomnom as a Shiny for the first time. The monster comes from Generation 8 and is of the Ice and Bug type. It also has an evolution with Mottineva. However, the Shiny chance for Snomnom is not increased.
You can get the Ice-Bug monster from eggs as well as from rewards in the GO-Pass during the event.
In addition, Ponita, Schneckmag, Shnebedeck, and Gelatini are waiting for you in their Shiny forms at the event. All of these monsters have a heightened chance of encountering their shiny variant.

What else is there in the event? In addition to a GO-Pass that is active for the entire duration of the event, there is also a limited-time research task waiting for you, in which you can earn 16,800 experience points as well as a Pikachu with a marathon visor.
