What kind of event is this? The Community Day Classic is a special form of a Community Day. It is very similar in content to the regular version of the event, but it highlights a monster that has already had its own Community Day in the past.
At the Community Day Classic in May 2026, Kapuno returns. The Dark-Dragon monster comes from Generation 5 and can evolve into Duodino and then into the powerful attacker Trikephalo. We have summarized all the important information about the event for you.

When? Saturday, May 16, 2026 – From 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

Additional content for the event: As with the last Community Days, you have the opportunity from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM to attract Kapuno using lure modules. These specimens will continue to have an increased shiny chance even after 5:00 PM. You can also attract Kapuno with a special background here.
For $1.99 (about €2), you also have the option to purchase special research for the event. There you will receive 3 encounters with Kapuno with a special background, 1 premium battle pass, 1 special candy XL, and further encounters with Kapuno.
Is the Community Day Classic worth it?
For collectors: If you have not yet obtained Kapuno and its evolutions as shiny, then this event is the best chance to fill those gaps.
For fighters: Trikephalo is one of the best attackers in Pokémon GO of the Dark type. So it is worth getting one or two specimens.
Kapuno is also available from time to time with Rocket Grunts. Therefore, you should also collect a lot of candies of the monster during the Community Day Classic, so you are well prepared in case you receive the crypto variant of Kapuno one day. There may not be a better opportunity to collect lots of candies.
For medals: If you haven’t yet reached platinum with the Dragon-type catch medal, you can make a lot of progress during the event. Medals are important if you want to reach level 80 in Pokémon GO.
Perfect preparation for the Community Day Classic in May
Create space: If you want to catch as many Kapuno as possible, you need enough space in your Pokémon box. So sort out beforehand. If your box is full during the event, then quickly sort out your new monsters.
Collect items: You will need a lot of balls if you want to catch many monsters. You can obtain these from PokéStops and by opening gifts. Additionally, you should keep Sananaberries ready for the event so that you get more candies when catching Kapuno.
By using incense and lure modules, you can attract even more specimens of Kapuno. If you plan to do this, you should also have these items in your bag. Due to the 3-hour duration of the incense, you only need one incense to keep the item active throughout the event.
Mega evolutions: If you have the appropriate mega evolution in Pokémon GO active, you can receive additional experience points, one more candy, and an increased chance of XL candies (from level 40) for each Kapuno you catch.
