In Pokémon GO you can now find mysterious quests under the name “Spooky Cipher”. We at MeinMMO will show you what tasks these are and what rewards await you upon solving them.
What quests are involved? In Pokémon GO, this weekend the big Hoenn Tour takes place, bringing you numerous special features. Of course, special field research cannot be missing. However, some of these quests seem to be mysterious because they look very different than you are used to.
We have summarized how you can recognize the new quests and what content lies behind them below. We also tell you what cool quests will be available.
Here you can find our live ticker regarding the Hoenn Tour.
“Spooky Cipher” – All Tasks & Rewards
This is what the mysterious quests look like: In the first time zones, the Hoenn Tour has already started, which is why the first trainers have already come across the mysterious research under the name “Spooky Cipher”. One can directly see in the reddit post by Positive_Rock_6425 that something is wrong with this kind of tasks.

The task statement is not entirely clear and is partially obscured by black blocks. However, this is by no means a game error, as Niantic had already announced special field research for the Hoenn Tour in connection with ghost Pokémon before the event.
What are the tasks? What you have to do to solve the tasks and what rewards await you are summarized below with the help of the overview from Leekduck.
| Task | Reward |
| Evolve a Nincada | Encounter with Ninjatom* |
| Land 3 great curveball throws in a row | Encounter with Zobiris* |
| Send 5 Pokémon | Encounter with Shuppet* |
| Use 5 berries when catching Pokémon | Encounter with Zwirrlicht* |
How do you get the research? You can access the mysterious quests about the ghost Pokémon, like with all other field research, by spinning PokéStops. You will find the respective task in your field view, which you can access by clicking on the binoculars.

In addition to the spooky quests, you can also encounter other field research during the Hoenn Tour that may be worth your while. With these, you have the chance to collect Mega Energy for the evolutions of the starter Pokémon from the Hoenn region with relatively little effort.
In addition, you can also expect a Pokémon encounter or two, such as with Schluppuck, Tuska, and Gehweiher, which will be available in their shiny forms for the first time in the game. In the field view, you will recognize these tasks by their “Event” mark.
