Many things are not properly explained in Monster Hunter Wilds and cannot be found in any tutorial. Players are therefore wondering what certain symbols mean.
Which symbols are we talking about? Monster Hunter Wilds is not particularly known for explaining menus and interface elements well. Therefore, players are asking on Reddit what the colorful symbols next to player names mean and why there are two variations of each, except for one.
You can find these, for example, when you go to the lobby or friends list and look at the player names. There are red, orange, purple, white, and blue “sides” in two variations: whole and half.
You will learn what the symbols mean here.
Every quest has a color – but why half?
What do the symbols mean? Each symbol represents a specific type of quest. A whole symbol indicates that this player is the host of the respective quest. Half symbols indicate that this player has joined a quest of this type.
The following colors represent the following quests:
- Red: These are hunts for large monsters, whether they are being hunted or captured.
- Orange: “Hunting” quests where you must defeat the required monsters. You are not allowed to capture them.
- Purple: Special quests. This includes event quests, for example.
- White: “Capturing” quests, where you must not defeat the required monsters, but capture them.
- Blue: Arena quests and challenges.
So the symbols show you which contents the respective players are currently engaged in and whether they are the ones who started the quest. This way, you can more easily see what your friends are doing online and if you can join them.
In addition to these quest symbols, there are also other symbols you can find next to player names. These represent the respective active hunting society they belong to.
Currently, many players are returning for the first seasonal festival in Monster Hunter Wilds or are logging in especially to participate in it. It’s definitely worth it, as you receive a bunch of exclusive items as gifts through the event, for which you would otherwise often have to pay: Monster Hunter Wilds: Blossom Dance Festival gives you exclusive rewards that you would usually have to pay for
