In Palworld, there are numerous locked chests with powerful loot in the open world. To open them, there are various items. Some of these can be used as often as you like – but not everyone seems to know that.
What do players craft too often? On Reddit, players are currently discussing that they either crafted lockpick items in Palworld in abundance or not at all. The reason: Many thought they were consumables.
This assumption is not unfounded. In games like Skyrim or Fallout, a lockpick breaks immediately if the attempt fails. However, Palworld makes things significantly easier for you.
How is this handled in Palworld? You find various keys (steel, silver, and gold) in the world, but these take up inventory space and are consumed upon use. As an alternative, there are lockpicks for the respective tiers. And you only have to craft each lockpick once to use it permanently and infinitely.
How the system works specifically and what you need for crafting can be found on page 2 of this guide.
The community celebrates this mechanic. On Reddit, some joke that it is illogical for lockpicks to constantly break in real life. User Eternal_Slayer95 wrote: “I swear, the lockpicks are an absolute must-have. You don’t have to leave any chest behind because you’re missing the key.”

How else can I open the chests? Alternatively, you can take the Pal Mimog with you. His ability allows him to open any treasure chest – even gold ones – without a key. Simply summon him at a locked chest to let him open it and grab the loot.
Mimog spawns almost everywhere in the open world, but disguises himself as a chest – he’s basically a “Mimic,” as the name suggests. As soon as you approach, he dashes away extremely quickly. So it’s best to deal a lot of damage at once and throw a sphere simultaneously.
Speaking of loot: If you return to camp with a full bag, you know the annoying sorting of materials and blueprints. But for that, the survival game also offers a very convenient solution that allows you to tidy up your inventory with just a single click. And players consider it to be “the best feature ever” in Palworld.
Have you also been diligently crafting lockpicks in advance, or were you already aware of this feature? Or do you prefer to rely on Mimog? Feel free to let us know in the comments!
